I love to listen to music! I listen to all kinds and types of music. It’s a way of one expressing their feelings. Depending on the mood I’m in, depends on what music I listen to. If I need motivation, I like to listen to upbeat music. I listen to rock and roll music. Lately I’m been listening to country music and it soothes the soul. Country songs have a story that is being told in it. Some music is to party with or music you want to listen to when there are people around.
We listen to love songs when we’re in love and we might even have favorite love songs. When we break up with some one, we may listen to “break up” love songs and we can understand or relate to a song of a lost loved. We can relate to songs when some one we love passes on. The song might not even mention a death, but the feeling is there.
There are songs of celebration, there are songs with morals and life lessons. There are songs for every emotion. For whatever emotion you’re going through you will probably find a song for that emotion. Some times we can find comfort in music. Just like I mentioned before, we can even become motivated by the kind of music we listen to.
Some times we listen to music that have no words that we can imagine or even use our own words. Some times no words are needed. Sometimes it’s just the rhythm or the beat of a song that draws us to it. Then we listen carefully to the words and it’s more powerful!!
I listen to music as a way of distraction as I have anxiety. I always have the music to be on. Even though I might not hear the words (as I am hard of hearing) I still can hear the beat of the music and I lose my anxiety by listening to the beat of the music. I know I fell emotionally better if I listen to music. Of, course I sometimes sing along. I love to karaoke and have been asked to be a singer in a band, because I can feel the music in my soul!!
~Peace~

I have a huge collection of music but somehow I get into the listening mood just around Christmas time.
@4cryingoutloud I used to always have the radio on in the background, whether I was listening to the words of the songs or not. I studied better with music on and, even today, I find I do better at creative writing if I have music on.
I can see why you like country music. It shares a lot of similar elements to the folk rock that I love. The music is usually more genuine than a lot of today's pop music.
Music makes life colorful. It shows how we feel about something. Life will be boring without listening to favorite songs. It is the way how we express our feeling towards other people. In my country, during the time of my old folks; they express one's feeling by serenading their special woman.
