How much do you think you will spend next month?

Chilling out on the balcony of my house, I fixed my gaze steadily at these two kids playing hide and seek at the children’s playground in the front of the compound. The first child had already taken his time to seek out and find the other, now it was his time to hide and allow the other small chap to find him. But they won’t follow the normal process this time. They had to change the rules of the game. The first child suggested they put a small bucket over the head of the other so as to have the eyes slightly covered, while the other hid around. The joyful play soon turned into a bitter cry after the second child who had his head and eyes covered with the little bucket hit a stone and fell into the nearby flower.

Well, thanks for reading my little story but that is not far from how many of us are going about our financial obligations. We delve headlong with a financial blindfold into spending without taking out quality to plan our financial expenditure. No wonder you have been ‘hitting a stone always and bumping into flowers’ when it comes to your finances.

It is good practice to always look at your financial outlay and find out where your money is always going to. With this in mind, you can now use the result for the previous month to prune all the excesses and painstakingly list out some of the things you think is worthy to take (invest) your money for the coming month.

This is what we call budgeting. Anyone who is looking to grow his finances and become wealthier must pay close attention to this. Develop the habit of drawing out your budget each month going forward and see how your income is going to take a huge forward leap tremendously.
