Every year, so many movies get released. However, I do share my memories of movies of bygone times, some even more than 20-25 years old. Why I do so?
Well I feel nostalgic about certain days and times of the past. Moreover, I do like certain things of those movies that I do not get to see in the movies of today’s years.
May be in bygone times, people had more time to do certain things and the movies too reflect that.
Then, in Bollywood Movies, we also have songs which too evoke great memories.
In 2001, Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan supported by Preity Zinta, Dimple Kapadia and Sonali Kulkarni teamed together in a Farhan Akhtar(now a great actor himself) movie. The Movie’s script was written by Farhan Akhtar himself and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy gave the music.
The story is about the journey of three friends who travel together to places. They have a strong bonding, but down the paths of life, they have certain differences and somewhere their paths diverge.
The movie shows the fun moments, the love moments in their lives. The discords, disagreements, and challenges too are shown in a manner that one never feels bored.
Finally, the friends reunite and good times come back.
With a story that was quite unique at the time of its release and a great music, the movie was a big hit, and in a way helped Saif Ali Khan’s career a lot as it showed that he can act with great versatility.
Aamir Khan as Aakash and Preity Zinta as Shalini are excellent.
Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Kulkarni provide the fun moments, and Dimple and Akshaye Khanna too are good in their rather serious roles.
Overall, a movie which one can watch over and over again.

It's one of the best movies I have seen till date.
I am a huge fan of Bollywood movies because when I was a kid, we didn't have access to Indian movies or hardly any foreign films for that matter. But then video rentals came along and my husband really loved the foreign films section of the store. Now that I can watch them online, thanks to the wonders of video streaming, I can enjoy my fill. I like all the stars in this movie but of a truth any movie with Aamir Khan immediately rises to the top of my list just because he is in it! Love this guy! :) Dil Chahta Hai was a good movie! :)
This was a cult movie, classic which changed the look and feel of the bollywood. Its when ur in your youth and in that crucial teen-age you are friends and life which is why you remember and like everything in that period
Thanks for commenting @shaloowalia, I have also seen this movie many times. Your review of Dishoom was good.
Thanks @cmoneyspinner and have you watched "Dishoom" too?
Thanks @gautamdotcom yes it reminds of our younger and more youthful days!
Not yet. Dishoom is a fairly new movie, so it's not easy to find it streamed online. That's how I watch most of my foreign films these days.
DCH is like a breath of fresh air. It shows how bringing youth into an industry is always a good thing. Just compare this film with Yaadein, from Bollywood veteran Subash Ghai.
Where as Yaadein is probably one of the worst things to come out of a camera, DCH is one the best. It's just one of those films you'll find hard not to like, basically because it's exactly how the medium of Indian films should be used.
Rather than just cut and paste a song into the film, the filmmakers have done very well to make each song feel wanted, visually interesting, and they never drag. The result is a near 3hr film that just flies by. Comedy, Drama, Great Songs, love stories that work, and some truly excellent casting. Everyone carries the film, and the 3 guys, Safi, Akshay and Aamir are too good together!
Hopefully this film is a wake up call to the rest of Bollywood, who seem to be obsessed with unoriginality. Technically DCH can easily stand up against anything from the West. Editing, Directing, Cinematography, lighting, set design -- everything just works so well.
Sometimes Bollywood can produce some truly great films, and this is most definately one of them!! You must watch it.
