You will be surprised to know, they are many day care centres for old people in Kerala. Once their children set off to work, they leave their parents in such centres. Such centres are giving good food and other recreation to keep them engaged. Obviously they get many friends of their age as well. Old parents reach home in the evenings. Sound interesting?

    • Good post. I this consider a very, very important thing; having a shower is something so common we sometimes don’t even are conscious it can be really dangerous.

    • I follow all those tips that you have mentioned here. I also use a bathmat which has a firm grip. I also use a sponge bag to place my soap in there so that it does not slip from my hand having the need to pick it up which sometimes is the cause for slipping.

    • @sandhya rani This is my pet subject. There are old age homes and old age homes. Some senior homes these days have all the facilities that one would not have in one’s own homes. As one gets older and their children have left the shores seeking greener pastures, old people cannot cope with their day to day life. Domestic help being rare or not trustworthy a well run old age home is the answer.

      • You will be surprised to know, they are many day care centres for old people in Kerala. Once their children set off to work, they leave their parents in such centres. Such centres are giving good food and other recreation to keep them engaged. Obviously they get many friends of their age as well. Old parents reach home in the evenings. Sound interesting?

        • What happens to those whose children are not around? What happens to those who are infirm and need care for 24 hours. What happens to those who want to have activities but those activities are not within reach. The reasons are several why some seniors should move into old age homes.

    • It’s nice to hear. You belong to which country?
One doubt, what if old people have no children. Who will take care of them?

    • Old age is one of the best age when men and women get maturity to guide the nation to the right path. those old men who live at homes are less happy than those who are politicians and remain bust with peoples or in any other activities.

It is the period of rest and guideline to the younger so that they could find their destination. I have met some people are happy in old age and some are unhappy because the difference of day and night activities and nothing else.

I suggest some tips for old men to make life happy and save.

Find a part-time job to stay busy
      Use your nest egg.
Join volunteer groups, or help out with organizations you feel are worth your time, join quilting clubs, or golf clubs
Spend time with the ones you love, invite people over for dinner, do what you want!
Remodel the house, or better yet, build on to your home.
Take up a hobby. Try puzzles or crosswords, or participate in things like wiki How.
Give free coaching in the subject in which you are comfortable to the needy.
Play with small kids. It is wonderful.
Learn religious topics of your interest
      Stay active

Another study show that in order to maintain memory you should eat blueberries, strawberries and spinach, learn bridge, do crossword puzzles and yoga, walk, take part in volunteer and social activities, shout out the answers while watching game shows, and laugh often

    • when I gave birth to my kids, I used butter cocoa lotion and aloe vera gel for the stretch marks.
I also used them before delivery to reduce the marks.
When it stretched, really looked awful, spider veins forming around the belly.
Then the skin shrunk and wrinkled.

    • Those are some good tips that one can use. I have always preferred natural methods as my home remedies than using chemicals. Chemicals just add more fried than results. It sounds like a good idea to apply before giving north @ peachpurple how did that work out for you did th3 stretch marks disappear over time?

    • Let’s admit it, the sight of horrible and greyish stretch marks on your arms, thighs, hips or stomach area is outright disconcerting. You have your favorite outfit, cosmetics and accessories in place to complement you on a special occasion, but everything seems to go in vain because of those undesirable stretch marks!

Especially for women, this is the cause of great chagrin and probably even sleepless nights! Appearance of stretch marks is becoming increasingly noticeable day by day among people and without exaggeration, it has got to do a lot with their current lifestyles.
      Why stretch marks occur?

The outer layer of the skin which is known as the epidermis, is firmly supported by the middle layer called the dermis. There is a dense and strong presence of fibres in the dermis that are intricately bonded together.

When there is a sudden expansion or contraction of the skin, due to any particular reason, the pressure falls on those fibres, making them turn thinner and eventually break down. Stretch marks appear on the dermis, thus weakening its grip on the epidermis.
This leads to sagging of skin and hence, leads to the formation of stretch marks.

At first stretch marks appear reddish in color due to the visibility of blood vessels and torn fibres of the dermis. Later, they fade into grey or silvery white color, mainly when the blood vessels contract and only the layer of fat present under your skin is visible.

But I never took any formal lessons. @ peachpurple though music is a part of my life, I never got opportunity to learn. @ Shavkat it’s nice to hear you used to sing during school days
