Just checking in to see if anyone has heard from support. It seems we are now at a point where two consecutive months’ worth of payments have gone unpaid and yet people here continue to publish. View

@peachpurple I hope you can change it! Peachy will do just fine, and it suits you so well 🙂

I am very happy to be here and chatting with all of you. It makes for a pleasant day, especially when other things are stressful and full of deadlines!

@lovern That’s very cool to have red as part of your name! I don’t think anyone in our family has a colour as part of their name, except one who was “Violet” for the flower. But all my daughters have flower names, some obvious and some hidden in the meaning of a name 🙂

@bestwriter I’m a little frustrated with Zazzle at the moment. First, the site keeps trying to shunt me to the Canadian page, when what I want is to design and market my products to Americans.

Secondly, I’m not able to get any of the image guidelines at all. It took me about 30 minutes of trying to get to the page where the files are supposed to be, and then when I got there and tried to open some of the links every blessed one was giving me a 404 error! It looks like they reorganized their site, but when they moved the pages around they didn’t fix the links. It hardly seems professional…

I didn’t mind about entering my info for the payment setup. They use it for the tax papers, so I understand they need to ask. I just wish I could navigate the site without a hassle!

That’s so sweet of you to say, @morgoodie! I had fun writing this one. I’m glad of it, because other than redeeming and getting some blog housekeeping done, writing has felt like too much of a chore today….

@morgoodie The ones we read as kids were I think called the “Children’s Illustrated Classics,” or something like that. It was a lovely hardcover series that was abridged so kids wouldn’t get bored with the story. My kids got a lot of books from this series, as my Mom used to buy them from garage sales whenever she saw them. I don’t think they’re in print anymore, but the library will likely have them.

I finally crossed the finish line as well, when my last three posts published earlier today. I am very pleased that I was able to get in my redemption request. Now, to make it back up to the first dollar again….

I have a question for those who redeemed: do you have a strategy for next month? Will you wait to see if you are paid, keep working consistently and simply aim for about $10 for June, or will you try to earn even more for the next pay period?

I will be continuing to publish here, but as I have put a lot of emphasis on getting to cash out in the past few days, I’ve had to put other tasks on the back burner. I am now making an effort to look in on those things. I have three main goals for today, and have accomplished only one so far.

So off I go! Time to get cracking on my other two tasks….

@lolaze Those are lovely colours! And I found your reasons for picking them really interesting 🙂

I’ve never been one to get lots of member referrals, even if I’m one of the people who first spreads the word about a site. I wish I could offer some advice, but I think really it comes down to a lot of folks already having signed up, or people preferring to sign up under their closest friends (even if someone else actually told them about the site…)

Here’s my contribution to the challenge. I hope you like it!

Remember to come back here to link your post once it publishes! This way we can all be sure to read and comment, and to share it on our own social networks 🙂

I am so glad that I noticed what you did, @thinker! And that I thought to ask you what you had done to achieve that effect.

It seems that it doesn’t always work perfectly, and I don’t think e can put the links directly in the first post of a new thread in the forum. They only seem to work in the replies.

It remains to be seen whether we can use this same method in our posts, to link in related content. I was doing that on BlogJob with the help of the Embedly plugin, and I found that it enriched my posts immensely!

I am not a good traveller at all, so I rarely do it. I get sick when I travel, or I end up needing to rest more than usual, and it spoils all my sightseeing plans.

If I were going to visit another country, I think I’d want to take a good month to explore the British Isles. I’d especially like to explore Scotland and Ireland, the birthplace of my husband’s people. I need a good, long time to be settled in place when I travel. Otherwise I become even sicker. So probably the best way for me to enjoy such a vacation would be to book a stay in just on or two places, and then to organize day trips to see the sights nearby.

I’d love to stay in the city in a place like Dublin or Edinburgh, to be able to enjoy the pubs, the architecture, and the big cultural attractions like museums and theatres. But I think even more, I would want to stay at a little B&B somewhere in the countryside. I’d want to really get to know the people, and to enjoy the scenery.

By the way, I meat to say that in our family MamaOzzy, my oldest daughter is the designated hair cutter. She is very artistic. and loves to read books about hair styling or to watch YouTube videos showing how to do certain hair styles or cuts.

She uses the shaver to cut her Daddy’s hair and her younger brother’s. But she uses the scissors to cut her own hair and the hair of her two sisters. She does quite a good job! My hair I just keep long, so the most she usually does for me is a trim. But with her sisters she has done cute pixie cuts, and I guess our littlest wants that again so she’ll be cool for the summer. They look so sweet in them too!

I’m glad I have a daughter who can do this job, as I’d be terrible at it. And with six of us in the family, paying the salon would get really expensive!

I don’t think it’s a very good idea for me personally to do hair cutting, as I would likely leave the hair terribly crooked!

But I grew up having my mother trim my hair when I needed it, as I never got the cut I wanted at the salon, and the hair dressers never knew what to do with my long, thick hair. And I do mean thick!

I broke down when I had my high school graduation ball, and made an appointment with the hair dresser to have my hair styled. I wanted to do a fancy braid that I knew how to do, but that was difficult to do on my own hair. My mother didn’t know how, so we thought it best for me to go to the salon. The hair dresser there actually had to ask another hair dresser to help her hold my hair while she braided (I told you my hair is extra thick!) She did a terrible job with the braid, and then didn’t even take the time to blow dry my hair or sit me under the dryer, so I wouldn’t leave the salon with a wet head.

By the time I started to get dressed for the ball, my hair was coming out of the braid! I ended up having to pull the whole thing apart and start again! This time I did the part that I could, showed my mother what I wanted, and described how to do it. My sister came over to watch, and gave additional directions because she could see better. In the end, it looked far better than the hair dresser’s shoddy work. And it was free!

I still dislike going to the hair dresser. This is only one of several times they’ve messed up my hair…

Congratulations to @peachpurple, and to all the others who had already passed the $10-mark!

I am still waiting for posts to be approved. I had hoped they might be overnight while I slept, as some of them have been waiting quite a while….

I have a new writing challenge to share, so I will get busy in the forums and see if I can’t make up those last few pennies with some forum posts and comments. And yes, hopefully the blogging part will be approved before the window closes….

@scheng1 I wonder how they propose to pay for the current month without any ads? I do hope the site owners have a plan for this, as other sites have gone right down the tubes around the moment when the first payments should have been made. I want this site to succeed!

May 30, 2016 at 2:55 pm

@swalia It all depends how fast the articles are approved. I published four yesterday, which is a lot for me here. Usually I only do one or maybe two in a day, and I might go a day or two between posts as well. At the moment I have three more in the moderation queue. I’m hoping they all get approved in time!

I also noticed that when I published a bunch all together, I got paid less for several than for comparable pieces published with greater time in between. I suspect frequency of posts may be weighted, as well as post length.
