Bubblews, when you read the history behind its creation, it’s ‘rules’ and what it pays for, if you took a course in economics, or are familiar with business, or run a tuck shop, you had to come to the conclusion that this was an ‘unworkable business model’.

Simply put, yes, you can pay a percentage for views.  If you are running a site, you can…[Read more]

People use adblockers for virtual survival.  This isn’t the ancient days where there were a banner and a closing and a couple on the side, this is where there is no article… just ‘wall paper’ for the ads.  You can’t see the site, you’ve got pop ups and intrusive ads which many times cover part of an article.

Ad Blockers are a reaction to too m…[Read more]

    • It’s obvious that it is just being rewritten. She just chopped it into sections.

It can still be detected as plagiarized.

      • It was. I tried to warn the Mod, he ignored me. It brought the entire site down. There are many topics one will write and write about again because they get stuck in your mind. But one has to write from different angles.

On Wikinut I had written about the Bubonic Plague… and another writer had written about the Plague at virtually the Same Time!

I thought he Plagarised my work until I read his….

The joke was… the BBC had mentioned the Plague, I ran to do my research, he ran to do his. We both published at virtually the same time… two totally different items from different points of view.

My view is that when an Owner starts to take in money, if s/he has a dishonest gene, it takes over and they deplete the ‘treasury’ and can’t pay their writers.

I disagree Mahesh.   If a site is NON paying, such as Wikinut or Blogjob, fine.  But a site like Hubpages is supposed to pay, but pays so little, if/when it’s a waste of key strokes.  Any site that promises to pay and doesn’t is a Scam.

When it comes to Ad Block… that’s a whole different story

Wikinut doesn’t pay and probably never will again.   The Owner of the site hasn’t a clue how to manage a site, and left his mods to do what they pleased.  As soon as the site stopped paying the Mods left, except for the one guy, the one I’d warned about publishing Shards…

The Fact was; the Owner messed up, and ripped off the writers.  Then ran with coin.   If he hadn’t been such a dishonest thief that site would be the top of the Internet.

    • It would be nice to see the day when ALL positions for employment are actually based on the job candidate’s qualifications and merits. But that ain’t never gonna happen and we know it! So if you got skills, try to find out how to make it on your own.

As for the Oscars? Did something happen? I stopped watching that particular awards show years back. Long time ago, we might have argued about the “hint of racism” in these ceremonies. But that lady who played the maid in “Gone With the Wind” did got an Oscar, even though she couldn’t go to the celebration part afterwards because Negroes were not allowed. Sidney Potier got an Oscar for “Lilies of the Field”. Denzel Washington has more than one Oscar on his belt notch. Perhaps the person who started the Academy Awards actually did want to give recognition to outstanding actors, directors, etc. But these days, especially these days, we all know that the award shows are about money. And any little “controversy”? It’s probably about money too! That black and white stuff is just “window dressing”.

      • I feel you are seeing the same thing I am. It’s like having various flavours of ice cream and most people buying Rocky Road, (for example) and the store deciding this in unfair to strawberry so people have to buy strawberry.

When Avatar roped in more money than any other picture and didn’t get the award one wondered where the head of the Academy was?

I have no intention in seeing a movie about homosexuals. It doesn’t appeal to me. I will prob. watch la la land online because its a ‘feel good’ movie and sometimes… gee… people go to the movies to… um… be … I don’t know…? Entertained?

To my mind La La Land won… but it was more ‘politically correct’ to give it to Moonlight, so the envelopes were fudged…

    • That is indeed a very proud moment, very well done. Congratulations to you and your daughter. Even I wanted to be a doctor but I changed my mind lol, and now I am just an accountant.

      • Thank you. We really are indeed proud parents. Especially that she we have raised her to be a God fearing woman.

Oh, please don’t say JUST an accountant. Each of our profession has a different way of contributing to society. Each one is important, to complete the cycle of things in our lives.

    • Congrats!Very proud of you, for sure. So glad to hear this, a joyful moment. @harpreet singh good to be an accountant too, a good career provided we love our jobs, all jobs are a good job, for sure!

      • Thank you. And we are so happy that after 9 years, we are through with providing for her. She will be soon on her own. 🙂

Yes, I told @HARPREET SINGH , not to say JUST an accountant. Each of our jobs are important to make the society a better place to live in. We all have our own contributions to the world having our different jobs. There is dignity in labor as they say.

    • God bless your daughter. I’d like to add that it is truly a blessing to everyone when men and women are given the opportunity to study and to become “the best that they can be” at whatever occupation they choose as a life profession.

      • @Treathyl FOX

Thank you. Indeed, the best wealth that we can give our children is giving them the freedom to choose the best course for themselves and enjoy doing the job for the rest of their lives and show their best on it.

    • @Michelle

Thank you. Indeed she is a talented one. Maybe she took it from me. Joke , joke , joke

We never expected her to pursue Medicine actually. We though that when he graduated on BS Biology, she will already be contented with it.

But she really has the ambition of being a lawyer actually. But my father a lawyer who eventually became a judge discouraged her because there was a scholarship waiting for her for the science related course so she took BS Biology then pursued Medicine.

At least she also likes so much to be a doctor.

    • For those who can afford never care about how much to spend. What’s on their mind is happiness and fulfillment of their dream , yet there are practical people that better like to weed simpler and have the most money save to start for a family.

Thanks for sharing this factual happenings in our society this time.Write more , blog more and earn more, lol.

      • Well for the rich, money doesn’t matter indeed, as long as they will be happy with it.

But for those that are on budgets, they really choose to be more practical.

And that’s what me and hubby did when we got married. It was just a simple wedding with just the family, closest relatives, friends and officemates present.

At least we already have appliances in our rented apartment when we went there to start our married lives.

We didn’t regret having the simple wedding. But simple thought it may be , the guests really appreciated the foods that were served. We just added lechon and chicken macaroni salad.

There was a site called Wikinut.  It was a pleasant site and it paid.  Every item was moderated but not severely.   The site demanded long items… over 1k with 5 images, 5 bold words and 5 links.  Then one could get a Star.

One would be on the Star Page and likely to be read.

    It was a solid site.
