Creepies! I just opened this site in a new tab, and immediately started getting notices that I “had logged out from a different location” from Blogspot. I hadn’t logged *in* from another location! Is Wordpress being obtrusive and obnoxious as usual? Has this site been hacked? View

Drat…now it’s Thursday. I could actually fill a “store” page with just the works-in-progress I’d be delighted to sell! (I.e. the knitting kits I’ve hoarded for years, which I would let other knitters buy and knit up their way if they wanted to.) That’s not even to mention the long unwieldy novel, or novel series…

Sorry, I don’t think three animals are anywhere near enough to qualify you as “crazy”! The Dog Sanctuary where I’ve occasionally dog-sat had six dogs and two cats one winter, but is currently *down* to three dogs.

In the U.S. the role of PETA seems to be to give the most confused and unemployable young people something to do…and the ones who dropped the most acid are now the leaders (I suspect).

Yes, I withstand those “persistent” demands! My cats learn that meals are served twice a day. Additional treats are offered whenever leftover human food is suitable for the cats, so it’s worth their while to stay near the house, but they’re not too stuffed to hunt. They’re definitely not encouraged to be near humans who are cooking or eating, and…[Read more]

Yes…my home is a Cat Sanctuary partly because I needed help to control mice. (The house is in the country; “wild” mice and rats try to move in every autumn.) I’m well aware that my cats hunt, and grateful to them for doing so.

I think “forgetting and moving on” isn’t good either. I see this as the central conflict between Christian and Buddhist thinking (and, apologies to all European and Asian readers…the only plausible reason why Europe *ever* succeeded in dominating over Asia in any way). Right is right. Wrong is wrong. We need to keep this in mind. We can detach…[Read more]

I’ve made corn-based, gluten-free banana muffins and fritters, even a banana-chocolate-chip flapjack (it came out like cake cooked on the stove top), and a decadent, disgusting rice-and-potato-flour banana-chocolate “pudding.”

I think the cats do not scratch them because they deliberately want to hurt their owners. I think it is more like the cats want to play “rough”.
      All cats are predators.
This is something that we forget. They are born predators, and though the human owners have given them enough food not to think about hunting or eating birds, they are still predators.

I think cats learn in the same way humans learn how hard we can safely scratch ourselves, and then have to learn how to adjust our touch when scratching (or kneading, slapping, stroking, etc.) someone else. I think you’re right.

Interesting…wonder whether dandelion roots and/or old greens would add enough bitter flavor to make this recipe work with zucchini?
