Leave a kid in car all alone and go for some shopping. What a terrible thing it would be! I just can’t imagine this as it is disturbing me. It is the extreme of carelessness and must be avoided at any cost to ensure the safety of these little souls. May God keep every kid safe and sound.
-
You are right. It is becoming very common to forget kids in a car and involve in some other activity.

I have seen different colors of lentils but never black.
-
@Treathyl FOX
It is not as large as the image shows. And as mentioned in my Blog the polished dal is used and not the whole black lentil for making goodies.
-
-
yes it is healthy and tasty too, though a bit heavy on the stomach.
-
I have had no such issues so far. I have been eating dishes made from this lentil for years.

You are steaming them just by tying with a thread. Will they be crispy? I do not think so. They become very soft and may be not to preserve them for more than 6 hours.
-
Anything steamed is never crispy. Are idlis crispy?

It indeed is healthy. That turmeric and salt that is added while boiling the mackerels takes away its fishy smell.

I know almost all of those you have quoted… also remember; “Scarlett O’Hara was not beautiful but few men noticed when caught by her charm.”
“The Third Camel died at dawn.”
-
Yes. They are all great people. I think you are having some knowledge in Literature. But I am not. So the only thing I can do is just to appreciate the good writers and persons having good taste in literature. Thank you.

Opening lines are very not only in the writing of novels but also on academic works. I remember the days when I was to write my final year project my supervisor made me realized that my abstract must capture it all. That it must summarize the whole section of my project works. To put it shortly quality of opening lines cannot be overemphasized.
-
My Masters were asking us to write the project report. They were taking them to their houses and were making corrections. They were giving instructions in pen so that a student can remember the things well.

All great authors know how important an opening line is to grab the reader’s attention and instantly connect with them. But there is no opening line ever written that will ever be better than the one penned by Charles Dickens to introduce the reader to “A Tale Of Two Cities.” 🙂
-
I don’t think they are all necessary nowadays. People do not bother about the great opening and great closure. They want essence. They want information but not transformation. The transformation is already taking place and will take place without any effort. So they concentrate more on information.
-
-
yes. Those are great lines.
-
Yes. These opening lines and closing lines are meant for those who used to sit comfortably after their lunch and dinner in the open air. They need have to worry about their comforts not at all. They were thinking and knitting their words. I do not think they were doing that also. I can say that they wrote for their next generations. Who taught them about these closings and openings? No one I think.
-
This one fits Stephen King’s definition of great opening line: “Listen. Come in here. You want to know about this.”
-
Some very great quotes indeed!

At what stage do you add sweet corn?
Chicken corn soup is a must have dish in our home in winter and there is usually a pot in which stock is being prepared on a daily basis.
My recipe is quite similar to yours. But I make a coarse paste of sweet corn in blender and add it with shredded chicken in stock and boil thoroughly before adding cornflour paste.
Yummy, yummy.
-
I love chicken and corn soup but I’ve never made my own. You recipe seems very easy. My kids would probably like it too. Tweeted! 🙂
-
Oh I always adapt and modify recipes anyway. There are a lot of mouths in my house and when cooking I have to try to consider everybody’s palette. It’s not easy these days since my cooking has to be modified drastically due my husband’s health condition. Now when I see a recipe I like, I have to start thinking what adjustments need to be made for family members starting with the hubby and then working my down to TLT (the last teenager). 🙂

@Treatjul FOX 😀 That indeed is a tall order. More power to your trapeze acts.

I know only sweet corn soup I tasted it in the Hiking Chinese Restaurant. My children like it very much and offered me to taste it and then to go for ordering the soup. I selected it for me also. But the chicken part I do not know.
-
There is vegetarian soup also. Your must have been only sweet corn but that will not taste as good as chicken or crab.

It is a good recipe because soup is easy to digest and help for human health. We must make soup at home in winter to maintain heat of our body.
This is a quick and easy way to make this soup that is usually served at Chinese restaurants. For a tangy/hot flavor try this: about 3 to 4 hours before serving combine 1/4 cup vinegar and 3 finely chopped green chilies. Refrigerate until serving time and then sprinkle about a teaspoon of this on the soup. Enjoy!! Garnish with fresh scallions
My sister made this about two weeks ago and forgot to review! I used a whole cooked chicken from the deli department at the supermarket and shredded as much meat as I could while my two children attacke…

The food cooked by our mothers and grandmothers have a very unique flavour because they do most things by hand and spend ours churning out dishes. If you use homemade yogurt, ghee etc the taste and aroma of food is totally different than if you use factory made products.
Crushing garlic with pestle is so different than using a chopper and then freezing garlic in big batches. But sadly we lack time and patience so our food lacks the health qualities of our part generation.
