Lola wrote a new post, Living With Bipolar Disorder 8 years, 3 months ago

Living with bipolar disorder can be a challenge. It means taking multiple medications – some to manage depression, others to stabilize moods, and others to manage psychosis. These pills usually have to be taken m […]

    • may i know is it a hereditary disease / illness?
      is it similar to OCD?

    • Yes, taking at a time many pills for medication is dangerous for the health of mind and soul that is why self medication is an other serious problem for the patient. If someone feels such type of problem do these things at once as

Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.
Avoid or minimize napping, especially if it interferes with your sleep at night.
Avoid exercising or doing other stimulating activities late in the day.
No caffeine after lunch or alcohol at night.

You’re not powerless when it comes to bipolar disorder. Beyond the treatment you get from your doctor or therapist, there are many things you can do to reduce your symptoms and stay on track, including educating yourself about bipolar disorder, surrounding yourself with people you can count on, and leading a healthy “wellness” lifestyle.
With good coping skills and a solid support system, you can live fully and productively and keep the symptoms of bipolar disorder in check.

Living well with bipolar disorder requires certain adjustments. Like recovering alcoholics who avoid drinking or diabetics who take insulin, if you have bipolar disorder, it’s important to make healthy choices for yourself. Making these healthy choices will help you keep your symptoms under control, minimize mood episodes, and take control of your life.

Managing bipolar disorder starts with proper treatment, including medication and therapy. But there is so much more you can do to help yourself on a day-to-day basis. These six tips can help you influence the course of your illness, enabling you to take greater control over your symptoms, to stay well longer, and to quickly rebound from any mood episode or relapse:

      Get involved in your treatment
      Monitor your symptoms and moods
      Reach out to others
      Develop a daily routine
      Manage stress
Watch what you put in your body

    • The problem is that there are people who are afraid of going to the doctor because they are denying that they may be really sick. Then when their sickness gets worse, they’d be in a state where they will never recover. But there are also people who can’t afford going to the doctor because they don’t have any money.

Lola wrote a new post, What is Amygdala 8 years, 3 months ago

The amygdala are two tonsil shaped groups of cells located deep within the temporal lobes of the brain. They are responsible for regulating emotion, processing memory, and helping with split second decision […]

    • I have read that a roughly almond-shaped mass of grey matter inside each cerebral hemisphere, involved with the experiencing of emotions. Your amygdala are essential to your ability to feel certain emotions and to perceive them in other people. This includes fear and the many changes that it causes in the body.

If you are being followed at night by a suspect-looking individual and your heart is pounding, chances are that your amygdala are very active!

In certain studies, researchers have directly stimulated the amygdalae of patients who were undergoing brain surgery, and asked them to report their impressions. The subjective experience that these patients reported most often was one of imminent danger and fear. In studies of the very small number of patients who have had had only their amygdala destroyed (as the result of a stroke, for example), they recognized the facial expressions of every emotion except fear.

In fact, the amygdala seems to modulate all of our reactions to events that are very important for our survival. Events that warn us of imminent danger are therefore very important stimuli for the amygdala, but so are events that signal the presence of food, sexual partners, rivals, children in distress, and so on.

That is why the amygdala has so many connections with several other structures in the brain.

Recovering from mental illness? You may never have heard that you can recover, but it is true that you can. Recovery may not mean that you can stop taking medications or going to therapy but you can live a more […]

    • I have learned someone in our region having a mental illness brought to mental hospital for treatment, but when the patient was out after few months he became mentally insane again.Perhaps you are right, the patient was not surrounded with helpful people. He was triggered by his previous condition. It should be better for the sick person to stay in a peaceful place.

    • I have read quite a few of your blogs. You have determination and that is your trump card. Well done.

    • Recovery from mental illness is next to impossibility if it is too serious. The insane people may seem to forget that he is insane for the exposure and treatment he received from the institution or the mental hospital. That is why they are caged at the said hospital until they die.

Anyway for the sake of discussion. Let’s assume that the mental patient has recovered and he has shown signs of fully recovered. Well, he may be released from the hospital and be brought home. He may be sane for one year or two or so as we are hoping for. But the possibility of relapse is possible.

Since we are only human, we are sometimes irritated, felt disgusted, got angry. In short, we couldn’t control ourselves. And I am afraid this would also happen to the recovered mental person. And his family might forget that their member of the family is once an insane. His request wouldn’t be granted. He is maltreated and he is not given much attention anymore. In his state of anger, he would become vengeful and a great relapse of his mental illness would take place. For the second time around, he would be ferocious as the wild animals. He would turn wild and he would kill anyone in his sight or presence.

      That would possible. Believe me.

It doesn’t seem to me that they hold back post approvals to keep people from payment.  I think the moderators work daytime jobs so they get on the site at night to do approvals.  I’ve not gotten paid because I don’t spend nearly enough time here but I’ve seen plenty of people get paid.  The normal approval time is 24 hours.
