It’s been a while since I ate this. In fact, I only have the photo of the packet and I don’t have any of the pasta left. But I just thought I’d make a quick review in case you want to know more about my personal […]

    • Very nice. This is totally an Italian Dish. When I visited Rome on a travel tour the tourist was kind enough to explain us the details of each and every place, their food habits, their dances etc., at each place of visit. There I remembered pretty well in a small road-side restaurant a lady prepared and served it for us. It was delicious. It was soft. We could eat it with Tomato sauce. We tried it at home. The language written was not familiar and could not understand the preparation. We could only see ‘9 minitie’. We thought that it was something like 2 minutes Noodle and proceeded with the preparation. But, it was not to our taste. Yes, it needs good observation to see whether it is cooked properly or not. It is totally a foreign pasta. We could not enjoy it so easily and unconvincingly.

      • Aw that’s too bad. Well, there are certain food that you really just enjoy while traveling – it is hard to replicate at home! The standard and quality is not the same so it is best to enjoy while you are in that place it originated from.

    • Yes, pasta is a delicious food and in eating we enjoy it when we are travelling on the in cars with friends or families. I like it most. I like Egg pasta goes well with hearty fare, for example, meat-based sauces or rich pomarola tomato sauce. Tagliatelle are also commonly flavored with other ingredients; for example, spinach, which turns them green; tomato, which turns them red; or squid ink, which turns them black.

I have read in many books that pasta made in smaller factories by artisans whose chief concern is quality. Though the basic ingredients are the same, that’s where the resemblance ends: The artisans extrude their pasta through bronze dies which give the pasta a rough surface that captures and holds sauce, and they dry it at lower temperatures, thus preserving the flavors of the wheat.

Then, we were indulged with a beautifully presented work of art. It tasted as good as it looks. Simple, few ingredients, lightly dressed. A restraint that is difficult to find and harder to maintain in a world of excess with a mentality that more is better. In this case, in any case, less of better is always best.

These days, I am trying to use the products I recently bought from Jolse. So expect a lot of new product reviews from me, too! One of the things I recently bought from Jolse is this packet of Skinfood Foot Peeling […]

    • Is it not uncomfortable wearing some plastic foot socks by soaking the feet in solution? What is the main use of it?

      • Not really. It is a bit squishy but I wouldn’t say it is uncomfortable. šŸ™‚ I wrote about it and it is to peel off dead skin cells around the foot area. It is a great alternative instead of the traditional scrubbing done in the foot spa especially if there’s no easy access to it.

cessy08 wrote a new post, Face mask review: Etude House Coenzyme Q10 8 years, 2 months ago

It is another edition of face mask review! To be honest, I should’ve done this post a long time ago but since I only have Sunday for dedicate skincare regimen, it’s hard to try the products! If you recall, I […]

    • I heard about this face mask. I am afraid of using this. I generally use Ole facemask. It is very good. It is also having the property of skin tightening. It does not stick to the skin on the face and cause inconvenience. Ole products are good. It has to be verified whether the size is in proportion to the price . If not, I may have to think about it. Moreover, the ingredients used has to be verified. Does it contain Almond oil?. Because Almond is a good nourisher of the skin. It has got an anti-aging property. For how long can it be allowed onto the face is another factor that has to be viewed. I also want to see whether it has got some jojoba oil content in it. Because this is also a very useful skin brightening oil. It removes the dust easily from the pores of the skin and makes it clean to the maximum extent.

However, thanks for the information provided in the review.

      • Oh, it doesn’t seem to have any oils in it as it has fruit extracts like grapefruit. I know the benefits of using Jojoba oil – I also use it for my skin but not in a face mask, though. I do use it as my moisturizer after washing my face in the evening and it always does the job to keep my skin feeling soft and smooth to touch! šŸ™‚

    • You seem to have it all together when it comes to your skin care regimen, I wish I had all the time to do all that and even shop for the items unfortunately I don’t have it th3 only thing I do for my skin is apply lemon all over my face them leave it on for like 20 minutes then rinse it off and that makes me feel so good and it also leaves the skin feeling more refreshed. I find that fulfilling and less tasking but all the same we all have something that works for each one of us are cannot be the same. The tips are good though

      • Oh, I try to make time. I didn’t use to do any of these regularly (only when I feel like it) but after giving birth, I noticed a decline to my skin’s texture. So I want to do something about it. Believe me, I use these things while doing chores, LOL! So it is not unusual to see me cleaning around the house with a face mask sheet on, LOL!

    • I love this! I am obsessed with heath and beauty skin care tips. One of my favorite ways to pamper myself daily. I used a daily moisturizer on my face and sometimes I like to use a face mask at least twice a week. You don’t want to use it too often I’ve been told. I love facial cleansers. I have remained acne free for over 5 years because of the way I keep my face.

      • Wow, I wish I can pamper my skin that often šŸ™‚ I do the daily moisturizers but don’t do anything “special” with it daily. Yeah, I think it is not advisable to use these daily – it still has a small alcohol content in it after all.

    • Face masks are the perfect skin care treatment to help you with your skin care concerns. The right face mask can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores. They’re also an excellent way to help pull out impurities.

When I think of facials, I think of the vigilant skincare habits of Frenchwomen. Iā€™ve yet to answer the doorbell with a pale green or blue mask on, which Iā€™ve heard wouldnā€™t elicit a peep in that land of serious skin care.

Nor could I see myself applying one while on a long-haul flight, as famed U.K. makeup artist Lisa Eldridge does (okay, the one she used on her airplane beauty video was somewhat clear in colour). But I do try to work one into my skincare routine-usually on a weekend, hiding in my bathroom.

ā€œUsing a mask is one of the steps of a good skin regimen,ā€ says Karen Asquith, Toronto-based national trainer for G.M. Collin, a Montreal-made line of skincare products thatā€™s sold in spas.

ā€œA mask blankets the skin, helping the active ingredients penetrate,ā€ Asquith says. ā€œDepending on the type of mask, it can draw impurities from the skin and eliminate dead cells, or tighten and tone.ā€

Masks are applied to cleansed skin for 10 to 15 minutes, although the duration can be shorter or longer; some hydrating masks can also be used as an intensive overnight treatment.

cessy08 wrote a new post, Review: Pampers Baby Dry 8 years, 2 months ago

I am not a believer that only the branded and expensive items work. No matter what kind of item it is – be it clothing, footwear, or anything we use regularly at home, I tend to try the cheaper alternatives. Don’t […]

    • Yes, people generally think that everything will be the same with ordinary items and branded items. They can not differentiate between the material used, type of material, the finishing, the look, and the advantages the branded items have over the local items. Always it should be remembered that a branded item is one : which maintains certain standards. They maintain the quality of the material used. The finishing will be excellent and the thread used for making the items like Pampers will be of good quality thread. The elastic used will be good and will be anti-allergic. They always keep in mind the durability and comfort of using the item.

People generally think that the price of the branded items will be more. Yes. It should be. Otherwise, how can he pay the salaries of the staff and workers? What about the maintenance cost? How about the taxes he should pay? They make items employing many workers. They contribute to the employment of educated. They pay taxes which will be an income to the Government. So when a company manufacturing a branded item is paying taxes and providing employment to the people why can’t they fix the price of their item more? It is quite natural. Moreover, they have to compete with other brands also meeting all these challenges.

So it is always good to go for branded items. But, it does not mean that we should not encourage the young entrepreneurs. They should be encouraged but not at the cost of branded companies. They must be forced to compete with branded companies doing hard work and following the rules and regulations and ethics of Trade & Business.

      • Yes I agree with you. There are certain quality control put in place by companies such as Pampers but that doesn’t mean that cheaper brand companies don’t. They do but it compensates with the price they sell the product so they end up using lower grade (but still functional!) cheaper materials. As I’ve said, my son still uses the Tesco own brand range and use it more than Pampers. But we know that if we want something that works better, then we use Pampers.

    • Unlike the first time we raised our first born, diapers at that time are expensive. When our fifth child and last child was born, it is already considered cheap because of too many baby diapers available. Pampers is so popular in our place that when you buy a diaper you would say pamper. Seems like the pamper is considered a common noun and not already as brand.

      • LOL, now that you mention it – I think you’re right. Similar to how some people address Colgate as a common noun for toothpaste and not the brand. I guess because Pampers really made a mark in terms of quality and a brand to trust when it comes to nappies – so they have earned this accomplishment.

    • Whoever came up with peppers did a very good thing for mother’s all over the world. Home are the days when women had to use napkins as diapers for kids, and that came with huge challenges for women when it came to washing and changing. But now things have been made easier and faster. It’s a brilliant idea who would go for napkins in this day and age of you are able to afford pampers.

      • I never thought Moms before had to use napkins for their kids! I can’t imagine! Although at the time I was a baby, we used cloth diapers and my Mom would always tell me of the “tales” of washing them – especially the dirty ones, eek!

Korean skincare products are on the rise. Blame it on the Korean skincare fanatics (like me!) who always rave about these skin care products slowly dominating the world of skin care these days! Apart from the fact […]

    • I was a distributor for Forever Living Products,USA for their range of products based on aloe vera. Looks like many companies are getting into this business.

      • Oh, it is! It is actually a really popular trend in Korean skincare these days and I noticed some online sellers spike the prices on these tubs, especially during summer. I am lucky I found a suitable product for my skin minus the overwhelming price tag.

    • I have good things about the Aloe Vera gal it has some really good benefits when you think about it. Sometimes am really scared of ordering anything to did with my body online. I always have these thoughts that they might not be genuine products. They could work or not work out for you. But all in all I think people are different so it could happen either way. I have Aloe Vera grown in my garden and I sometimes use it on my face as a face mask and the results are fantastic so I agree with you on this.

      • Oh, if only I have a potted aloe vera plant – I wouldn’t buy these, too! We had a pot at my parents’ house and used it extensively on my scalp since I had thin hair as a child. I also try to do some DIY skincare regimen but can’t use a lot of those (or do everything DIY) since I don’t use too much and it would end up getting spoiled if unused.

    • I don’t use very many skincare products. But I know for certain that the ones with aloe vera are good. Some are better than others.

      • I know what you mean. My husband is the same that he rarely tries new products or always sticks to the ones he has been using for a long time. I am just lucky this brand suits my skin and didn’t cause me any damage!

    • Aloe vera have been one of the no secrets beauty regimen but with lots of beauty products sprouting in the market, it has not been used lately. But in our place, women use it in practical way, they have some pots of aloe vera plant and they once in a while I see them harvesting some good leaves for their beauty regimen.

      • I think that’s what Asian beauty (Korean skincare in particular) is after: they want to bring back the more natural ways to take care of our skin using these natural ingredients and mix it with modern technology. I think it is good!

    • It’s good for burn and great for your skin.

      • Haven’t tried to put it on sun burnt skin but I can just imagine the feeling! I love using this as face mask when the weather is really warm and does a great deal to my skin to freshen up!

    • Aloe vera is a popular medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years. It is best known for treating skin injuries, but also has several other beneficial effects on health. Aloe vera is a thick, short-stemmed plant that stores water in its leaves.

It is widely used in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries, and has an estimated annual market value of $13 billion globally (1).

Aloe vera is well recognized by its thick, pointed and fleshy green leaves, which can grow to about 12-19 inches (30-50 cm) in length. Each leaf is full of a slimy tissue that stores water, which makes the leaves thick. This slimy, water-filled tissue is the ā€œgelā€ we associate with Aloe vera products. The gel contains most of the bioactive compounds in the plant, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants.

      Antioxidants are important for health.

Aloe vera gel contains powerful antioxidants, which belong to a large family of substances known as polyphenols

These polyphenols, along with several other compounds in Aloe vera, can help inhibit the growth of certain bacteria that can cause infections in humans, Aloe vera is most commonly used as a topical medication, rubbed onto the skin rather than eaten.

It has long been known as a treatment for sores, particularly burns, including sunburns.

In fact, the FDA first approved Aloe vera ointment as an over-the-counter medication for skin burns back in 1959.

Studies suggest that it is an effective topical treatment for first- and second-degree burns.

A review of 4 experimental studies found that Aloe vera could reduce the healing time of burns by around 9 days compared to conventional medication

The evidence for Aloe vera helping to heal other types of wounds is inconclusive, Tooth decay and diseases of the gum are very common health problems.

One of the best ways to prevent this from happening is to reduce the buildup of plaque (bacterial biofilms) on the teeth.

In a mouth rinse study of 300 healthy people, 100% pure Aloe vera juice was compared to the standard mouthwash ingredient chlorhexidine.

After 4 days of use, the Aloe vera mouth rinse was found to be just as effective as chlorhexidine in reducing dental plaque

Another study found similar benefits of Aloe vera mouth rinse when used over a 15- to 30-day period

Aloe vera does this by killing the plaque-producing bacterium Streptococcus mutans in the mouth, as well as the yeast Candida albicans

    • I damn fed up using these skin care product. I am having dry skin and during summer the face will become lifeless. I have been searching for good skin care product. Finally, Patanjali Yoga Center has advised me to dispense with this product and go for natural herbal products which I am using now.
The skin care products are suitable only for some people and are not suitable for each and everyone as a universal rule and such product is not designed so far.
I generally apply curd and honey and prepare my own pack and this will be a very nice product for the skin. I will explain it separately in my post.

    • I like to share the Aloe Vera hydro gel.My grandparents told me that Aloe Vera juice I meant the liquid came from Aloe Vera is good to apply for the face to get all the acne or to make the face looking beautiful..

cessy08 wrote a new post, Saffron infused chicken with Spanish Chorizo 8 years, 2 months ago

Spanish chorizo is a great add-on for additional flavor in a dish. Whether it is to use to cook pasta, a side dish for baked eggs, or mix with rice, you only need to add this for an added punch of flavor.
    The […]

    • Saffron I love. But for dietary reasons light turkey sausage has to be used in plaoced of Spanish chorizo. I have made a similar dish to this recipe and it is delicious!

      • I haven’t tried turkey sausage before. Does it have less salt? I know chorizo is not the healthiest food out there so we also eat it in moderation. šŸ™‚ I think the saltiness of the chorizo really match with the slight tanginess coming from the lemon juice, yum!

        • I buy lite turkey sausage from our grocery store. It has less salt and less fat. That way my husband can enjoy the meal too! He has to restrict his salt and fat intake.

    • I’m starving at the sight of it! Nice recipe to be done!

    • This is my basic paella recipe, using the two most popular ingredients commonly seen in paella recipes out there, chicken and chorizo sausage. There are 3 basic ingredients that you need to have in your cupboard in order to make authentic Spanish paella; paella rice, smoked paprika and Spanish saffron.

The rice should be short grain and never long grain. These days you can easily find paella rice in most deli shops and stores out there but keep an eye for either rice from the bomba, bahĆa or senia varieties, these are the best known. The smoked paprika or Spanish ā€˜pimentĆ³n de la veraā€™ is an intense spice made from roasted and dried red peppers mainly from the region of Extremadura, again widely available in deli shops.

You can either use sweet or spicy pimentĆ³n depending on how much heat you want to give the dish, I prefer to use sweet paprika. The saffron is the key ingredient that provides the aroma and colour to the dish.

Use Spanish saffron from La Mancha region, it is considered to be the best in the world. The method of cooking this paella is very simple as I donā€™t use an oven like many restaurants do, which sometimes might be tricky to get the rice cooked properly.
