When I was in the hospital recently I was put on new medications. One of them I knew my psychiatrist wouldn’t like and I was correct – she took me off it right away when I saw her after getting out of the hospital. It was called Klonopin and it was a type of medication that is addictive. I already have issues with being drawn to addictive substances so it was a no way for me. The other medication was an anxiety medication and she left me on that. It seems to be helping quite a bit. I was quite anxious this morning when I woke up about some things. After taking it, I am feeling a lot calmer and more settled down.
The main problem left when I came out of the hospital was the bad quality of sleep I was getting. My doctor began me on a new medication called Saphris for that. I had been on this medication once years back and it had some bad side effects, but we decided to try it again. So far, so good. I’m sleeping very well and feeling more awake during the day. I’m also happy that it replaces two medications I was taking instead of just one! Now we just have to talk my health insurance into covering it, its a $300 a week medication. Its on their coverage list – my doctor just has to speak with them and get approval.
Now, if we can just get the therapy…well DBT…issue sorted I’ll be in good shape. I’m probably going to end up learning and practicing some on my own in addition to paying $97 for a few months for online courses. I hate to pay when its available to me for free, but I’m just not leaving my current therapist. We have too good of a bond and I’d be traumatized if that was broken and I had to try to start over with someone new. I wouldn’t do it – I’d just stop therapy totally

The doctor is the right person to ask for any change in medication if the med dispensed with does not work well to the patient. Not the patient to take the initiave to replace the medicine by asking a drug store clerk. It is good that the replace med works well for work and you have a good sleep. By the way, every time I read your post, I pity you for the struggle you have had before you fully recovered from your mental illness. Sorry about that.
Yes, getting a good doctor is better than trying to save that few dollars.
I think your health is more important than trying to save that few dollars and get a different doctor.
A new doctor may not be as professional as your current one.
It is fortunate that you had met a good doctor that knows what you can take.
Of course, if your medications are able to be claim with the insurance party, it would be a waste to spend your own money on it.
My dad had high blood pressure. He had taken the 1st pills and his reading was higher than usual.
Then the doctor gave him another pills which had greater function but with some side effects.
His heart beat became irregular, he became tired easily and couldn't breathe properly.
He almost black out.
Quickly went back to the doctor, got back the previous pill and he is back to normal again.
Sometimes, new meds do not match a patient's body consumption.
It is better to use back the previous meds and stay alive.
It seems you got a great doctor. I am sure he will improve the things for you. Allopathic medicines are not 100 % safe. They have side effects so allow me to say that you made a great choice in this connection. Hope God cures your disease.
