Cabbage is one of the cheapest vegetable in town and it is
easily found in wet market, supermarket and grocery shops.
However it is often mistaken by many people whom had
believed that cabbage causes flatulence.
Indeed, cabbage do produce flatulence if you mix it with
fatty meats in your recipes.
Look at the the bright side.
There are many benefits and nutritional value of cabbage
which gives us healthy body and more.
The structure of a cabbage is layers of large green white
leaves that cluster around in a huge ball round shape.
The cabbage belonged to the vegetable family called
cruciferous which means cross-shaped flowers.
Some good examples of other healthy vegetables under the
same family are:
· broccoli
· brussels sprouts
· cauliflower
· kale
· collards
Cabbage is high in:
A cup of coleslaw salad per day is able to supply your whole
day of vitamin C which is better than supplement pills.
According to the Roman history, the Romans had been
aware of the medicinal value of cabbage leaves and juices.
l They had been practiced using cabbage plasters against
varicose ulcers and sciatica.
· Cabbage are beneficial for burns, sprains, wounds,
sprains and migraines.
· The Romans applied the patients’ infected skin area
overnight, renewed the cabbage plaster in the next
morning and evening.
· For bronchial infections and throat hoarseness, drink
red cabbage syrup.

l Washed and chill large cabbage leaves in the fridge.
l Place the cold cabbage leaves inside your shoes.
l Cabbage leaves absorbs smelly feet odor.
l In addition, soak your smelly feet with dried tea leaves
and vinegar to reduce the odor.
l Cabbage also prevent the growth of breast cancer,
stomach cancer and colon cancer.
l Cabbage has phytochemicals called indoles .
l Indoles help to increase the female hormone in the body,
increases oestrogen.
l They aid in preventing abnormal cell changes which lead
to formation of cancer cells.
l In addition, phytochemicals also produce anti cancer
enzymes in the digestive system.
A number of women who had volunteered in this study,
had consumed 4 servings of half cooked cabbage and
fresh cabbage salad per week.
Almost 80% of the participants were less likely to contract
breast cancer compare to those women who did not had any
