Let me start with this product review by saying that I am not a fan of drinking pain relief medicines. In fact, I will say that I hate it! But then, there are times in our lives when you have to choose whether to let the pain affect your daily activities or seek “help” by taking the pill. And now that I have a little boy relying on my capability to take care of him, I have gotten to the conclusion that it is unavoidable.
I have very painful periods. And it is the type of pain where I used to file a sick day and spend the entire day miserable while lying in bed. When I didn’t have my son, I just let the day pass by, sleeping (if I can), or crying my eyes out. You may say that it is a “silly” thing to do but for a girl who doesn’t want to rely on pain killers (or in denial that I need it), that was the solution I could think of.
Despite trying all sorts of “diet hacks” or supplements, the pain didn’t decrease. I can expect the pain to come through every single month I get my period and with a little, active boy around – I can’t expect to have the luxury of staying in bed doing nothing anymore, right?
Before I tried Panadol Extra, I used to take the normal Panadol tablets. It helps me somehow but the effect doesn’t last that long or takes about an hour to have a full effect.
Panadol Extra is not like that and I can say that it does amazing things to manage my period! All I need to do is to take it before the peak of pain comes in (or on the first sign there is pain/discomfort) and I am guaranteed not to feel any pain at all for at least 3 hours!
It allows me to go through my daily activities without being slowed down by sudden painful cramps in my abdomen. So far, I can’t say I am allergic to it or there are any adverse effects on my son (he is still breastfeeding). So overall, it is a nice product!
While it does “wonders” to my super painful period cramps, there is one thing that I really don’t like. There are times I experience fast or strong heartbeat rates after a couple of minutes I took Panadol Extra. I am not entirely sure whether it is the case but caffeine is one of the active ingredients so I can only associate that reaction to this ingredient.
I am careful about using this product, too. I make sure not to exceed the dosage and to keep track of the time I took it to make sure I will not have “too much” of it in my body. Also, I just resort to this when I know that the really painful cramps will come. This means, I only take it on the first two days and even if the third day I still experience a slight discomfort, I either take the normal panadol tablets or just deal with the pain without any of it.

Panadol works. This I know! Have had occasion to use it and was very pleased with the results.
Yeah, it is one of those OTCs that really works! I am not a fan of taking medications but on days that I can't stand the pain - I know I have these! HAHA!
