How To Make Prawn Spring rolls – a great snack

Spicy food is the specialty of Indian cuisine. In fact the hottest chili in the world grows in India, known as Bhut jolokia (Ghost Pepper). This chili is 400 times hotter than Tabasco which the Chinese think is hot for their cuisine. I use Tabasco but would not dare try Bhut jolokia. It could be a Guinness Book of world Records attempt.

Back to the topic now. The Prawn spring rolls are not that spicy but spicy enough for those who prefer a milder version.

Prawn spring rolls could be eaten as breakfast, as a snack and even as a starter It is quite filling and some eat them  at lunch or dinner time. 

Preparing Prawns Spring rolls

Ingredients

– 300 grams  prawns (need to be shelled and chopped)

– medium sized chopped capsicum, one chopped onion, 2 chopped green chillies, spoonful of ginger garlic paste,2 medium sized  chopped tomatoes, Salt to  taste

– For the pancake, use 2 cups flour  and prepare a pouring batter with salt to taste. The batter for the pancakes could be rice or white flour.

– Oil for frying

– 2 Eggs for binding the pancake rolls

–  Corn flour for binding the pancake rolls

Method to make Prawn Spring rolls 

Keep ready pancakes the normal way.  Thinner the pancakes the better. There should be no holes or gaps in them.

For the stuffing

Pour 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan heat and fry the chopped onions

Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry a bit

Add chopped and fry for a while

-Add remaining ingredients and cook on slow fire

-Cool the stuffing

Pack  the stuffing in pancakes . Roll the packed pancakes in the well beaten eggs, sprinkle corn flour over them and deep fry.

With this quantity around 8 pancakes can be prepared.

They taste good with tomato ketchup.
