Love Your Job, It is a Blessing

What kind of job do you have? Is it a white collar job or a blue collar job?

Whether your occupation involves the use of brain power, or if it needs technical skills or manual labor, just be grateful, you have a job where you can derive a steady income.

In these days of very stiff competition for good jobs, one is quite lucky to be employed in a work he likes; one that fits his course; or one that matches his skills.

But how about those who can not find a job? He roams aimlessly, with mind blank, and feels so helpless because no one would hire him. He may be lacking in the requirements for the job; or the expertise, but it is his interest to work that should be given more value.

Companies Hiring Physically-challenged Persons

It is good there are companies now that hire physically-challenge persons or people with handicap. Some of them were deaf-mute, some lacks in height or what we call midgets; some are afflicted with down syndrome, but they got employment opportunities especially in service companies like fast food chains.

I think company owners are also given some tax discounts or some perks if they employ people with disabilities. It is such a good practice because even those who thinks that they can not have a good job because of their physical condition were given the chance to be a productive person.

If employed the person with disability has high morale because he is not a burden to his family, but contributes to the family’s coffers with his earnings. This makes his life worth living.

Be Industrious
Employees or workers should compensate the salary given them, by loving their work, by being efficient and industrious. Do not shortchange your boss by not working well, or coming to the office late, then do other things like playing computer games or chatting with your co-workers during office hours.

I could remember the two grass cutters (maintenance men) in our place. They report for work at 8 a.m. then by 10 a.m. they will stop working and have their break/merienda. But instead of returning to work until 12 noon, they just rest and sleep under a tree. Then they will work at about 1 p.m. and rest at 3 p.m.then call it a day and go home.

The management do not know what they were doing, cheating in work because the office is far from the place they were working. But people who saw what they had been doing reported it to the management, so they were fired from work.

If they should had been concerned with their jobs, they could still be employed. The management hired three new workers who are so industrious. They work at specified working hours and they are very efficient. The grounds are so clean because of them. They would surely have the job for so long.

    • Employed people should be thankful, they are blessed because they are given the opportunity to prove their worth, to be productive to support their families.

    • Agree with what you say that having gainful employment is a very important thing for anyone be it man or woman. There are many companies who are neutral to all and look at all categories and show no favoritism when it comes to appointments and other benefits. There are many other employers who because they are giving a job try to control the employees, pay them low wage, make them work more time, do not appreciate talent all such things put off the employees. If the employees do not want to work and would want to change the job they would not allow them to go.

While job is a very important thing and one has to thankful for having a job it should be fair both to the employer and employee no one should feel shortchanged and both should not feel they are doing the other a favor by doing what they are doing. Both should understand it is give and take and demand and supply at work. Appreciate the interesting blog post.

      • Thank you Krishna for your nice reply. Both male and female employees should have equal employment opportunities based on their qualifications; but female employees, like you said, should be given equal treatment; equal rights by her employers. Discrimination is not acceptable anywhere.
