Loss of Productivity due to Social Media

We all spend a lot of time on the social media. And that time collectively gets lost. And though at some point in time we assume that we can recover it. But in reality we can’t really get that time back. We just waste it on the posts and comments. So the social media has now developed this power to waste the time and money of people. So this is something very serious and we have to learn to let go of that. You have to instead find ways to spend the time productively. This way you can get more time for yourself instead of spending it on social media and the internet. In this article we are going to take a look at some of the ways with which social media is affecting our everyday life.

Distraction

Many of us are developing this attitude of distraction. We get constantly distracted and we want to see things one after another. And this habit in itself is going to damage our everyday routine. We have to learn how to handle the distraction. We have to develop our own selves on many counts. I think we should consider distraction as another way of telling our mind that we need to focus on things. We have lot of issues with distraction so telling our mind to come back to the point is good thing. And that habit can make us do a lot of things better. And we don’t have to struggle with the productivity.

Waste of Time

You may find that you are surfing the facebook and other social media. And this way you are wasting the time on the internet. You can see that this process in itself is a bad. And it wastes a lot of time. Consider having some time bound access system for your social media habits. This way I can tell you that wasting time is not a good thing. I can tell you that some of the time timers and the notifications can be a good way to get back to the work. This process needs to be done either through automation or through manually. And this means one has to be practicing to use the time wisely and not drop their productivity like this.

Propaganda

I think most of the people fall for some propaganda. You have to find out which is genuine news and which is propaganda. You can see that there are some of the things on social media not worth following. You can see that propaganda is something that can’t be handled by one person. All the mob has to react to the one that is spreading it. And that makes it harder to manage on social media. You should consider controlling the way things are going with the information. And don’t allow yourself to be controlled by the news and the information which is manipulated. That’s the best you can do on the social media.

As you can see you don’t have much control over the feed in social media. But cutting yourself off from the social media is one way to manage things. You can easily do that if you know how to avoid being online all the time.

    • I agree partially with the view. No doubt social media is causing a distraction. But, it depends on the type of members, friends, groups we chose on the social media.
Sharing some news item of the NYT is not a waste of time and it is not also reading it. Only, important news will be shared. How much time one spends on the Internet is also a point of concern as it depends on your areas of interests. If you are interested in DIY projects you will definitely go through it and share it. If you are interested in Woodworking it is not a waste to read the information relating to various skills. Similarly, to know about various dresses and fashions.

This is not a waste of time.

Sometimes, important information, social gathering of friends, meeting, get-together etc., are shared which is necessary for everyone to know about the moment of your social circle.

It is a waste of time if one goes on reading each and every post living in a hallucination. Read as fast as possible, share if necessary or leave it. Comment if necessary on a post otherwise leave it. Go through the posts of your friends and try to comment if they are really having any stuff. But, most of the people waste their on FB unnecessarily not allocating certain time for each and every category. This is waste of time.

They do not share what their friends and relative has posted but evince interest on the posts written by someone who is not concerned with him at all in a social gathering. This will definitely hurt and damage the social relationship.

Sometimes, people will be spending time reading the comments. There will not be anything just they post something very irrelevant or filled with provocative photos. It is necessary to spend time or offer comments on them. I do not think so. Try to share as much information as possible from your friends. Is it necessary to share a photo/videos that distract the attention of others and provokes one religion against the other? As a civilized person, there is no need to share it at all on the social media. Read only those posts which are unique and useful. Do not comment where there is no need and you have nothing to do.

Whether it is social media or any regular site, do spend some time on it with a definite amount of time say 2 or 3 hrs. But, not more than that.

Every social media site should be allotted a certain amount of time only and the job must be finished in the time prescribed for yourselves. Otherwise, this may certainly be a waste of time spending on social media sites.

    • not all the socil media aare good, some are nonsense and do not help in anything and do not bring you views

    • I think that social media is a great way to network with other people and businesses. It depends on how you use your time on social media. If you are just on Facebook, looking at your news feed and replying to posts, that may be a waste of time if it is excessively done but all of those commenting on posts and reading posts may also serve as a helpful tool for some as well. I find it to be kind of therapeutic. I have also found some of my long lost family and friends on social media, so it is not a total distraction fro actual life. I dont think any kind of computer use, excessively, is healthy but it also depends on the person. I think what takes most of our time is people and their need for us, at least that's my experience with why I don't get much time to myself.
