All the little things that make a house a home

No matter how big or how beautiful a house is, it will never become a home if all the little things are not present.

The little things can be very annoying to you, but these are very homely.

When your children leave dirty footprints on the tiles, you know that they are home, and they are well.

The unwashed laundry, the pot of herbs with a few leaves gone, the aroma of coffee, the unwashed cup, and the pens lying around the house are evidences of a home.

All these are little things that make a house a home.

When you have magazines, books, newspapers, and bills scatter on the desks, this makes a house a home.

It may not be nice when a guest drops by to pay you a surprise visit.  However, this is your home, and you have the right to arrange or not arrange your items at home.

Some people like to keep their houses too tidy and dirt-free.

They manage to keep their bedroom in pristine condition, as if they have never slept in the bedroom.

For me, a bedroom is a very personal space.

I like to stay in my bedroom whenever I am home.  My bedroom is in no condition to get into the cover of the magazines, because the pillows are scattered all over the place, the books are all scattered over too.

Even the box of tissue papers manages to look as if the cats have been playing with it.

While some people hire full time lived in maid to clean and tidy the house, they expect the maid to clean till the tiles sparkle, and the chrome coffee table sparkles too.

It does not turn a house into a home.  It turns a house into a museum or a hotel where people do not call it a home.

    • There ia nothing wrong to beautify a shelter with simple things. It can also help to save mother earth. Recycling is the best thing to achieve. Some people choose to be extravagant but it doesn't show any goodness. I might say simple lifestyle is better than overspending money over tangible things. During my stay in an underdeveloped country, I appreciate the simplicity of living. You don't need to worry about materialistic desire. Some people are not open to live in simplicity. The strong desire of wanting more and never satisfied.
