Do you know that lettuce leaves make a wonderful
tasty salad that could form as a cup or a bowl?
Most people use lettuce leaves as the side dish for
steaks, chicken chop, grilled chicken and meat
fritters.
Eating lettuce leaves on its own is sweet and crispy,
especially when you dip into mayonnaise or salad
dressing.
However, if you want more nutrients in your salad
snack, you should try this Lettuce Cups with
Peanut Butter that gives extra special crunchy flavor
instead of the usual salad dressing.
Peanut Butter gives the extra crunchy nutty creamy
texture into salad , a great combo with the
refreshing crisp lettuce that is chilled before hand.
Let’s get to the Lettuce Cups recipe now and let me

Prep time: 10 min
Ready to serve: 10 min
# 6 lettuce leaves, washed and cut into circle like
a bowl shape
# 100g carrots, shredded
# 100g lettuce, cut into fine strips
# 50g bean sprouts, remove tails
# 50g watercress, washed
# 1 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
(mix all together in a bowl )
# 3 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
# 60ml warm water
# salt and pepper to taste
# 1 tsp sugar
# 1 tbsp sesame seeds
· Lay a piece of lettuce cup on a plate.
· Place equal amount of different vegetables onto
the lettuce leave.
· Add in 1tbsp of the mixed dressing on top.
· Serve immediately.
· Makes 6 lettuce cups.
A great snack to nibble during teatime or
breakfast.
l Trim the lettuce before filling up with the
vegetables.
l If you want a cold, crispy lettuce, leave lettuce
leaves in fridge for 20min.
l If you can’t find any lettuce leaves, you can select regular chinesecabbage by cooking them in
boiled water for 3 min.
l Do not cook too long as it will become too soft
and slimy.
Most lettuce are sold in wrapped
plastic.
Although you may not be able to see
the inner content, look out for wilted
leaves.
Lettuce should be fresh and crisp, the
edges of the leaves should be green not
brownish or yellowish.
Avoid dark spots or torn lettuce leaves.
This means the lettuces had been
mishandled or “sick” .
Since lettuce is a perishable ingredient,
it should be displayed under the
refrigeration department, not under
open air or under the sun.
Choose dark green lettuce leaves that
are better than light green.
More vitamins, fibre and beta carotene
nutrients.
Most of the outer leaves are damaged.
Hence, take your time to choose the
freshest leaves as possible..
Look out for the stems.
Choose the stems that are not moldy
and brownish.
You can see the difference between a
dry stem with a freshly cut stem.
