Landscaping

During the time I ventured into Landscaping this concept was quite new. There were no courses conducted anywhere but my passion for gardening and with a bit of creativity I plunged into this area when an opportunity presented itself. This builder wanted to develop a garden around his newly constructed housing complex. The area was huge and there was  nothing but rubble strewn around.

I started a company and got my niece as a partner who was more a business woman. It was a perfect partnership.

 I did a design after I received the  plan and that too on a small piece of graph paper. I was no autocad expert !

This design included  features such as lawns,  a rockery, a lotus pond, a  fountain,  a badminton court, children’s playground, arches for flowering  vines, a patch for seasonal flowers, a patch for vegetables,  shady trees , pedestal garden lights and concreting of the   remaining  area.

We sat down with masons, electricians and suppliers of various items to work out a budget and offered  our client a package deal.  Neither our client  nor we knew where we were heading. It was a risk we were taking.  My design was passed and the  budget  was accepted.We got an advance to work on and periodicially we received more advances.  We were pleasantly surprised that we had a lot of money to spare and so we offered to add a few more features.We gave the client free maintenance for a period of one year.  We had won over this client (lol)

I did several projects after that till we shifted to a rural setting where we now enjoy the peace and quiet of what I have  created around our bungalow.
