Korean Face Masking: The Face Shop Real Nature Mask Cucumber

I had a friend who visited us a couple of months ago. And during her stay, she made sure to brings lots of Asian goodies! She was the same friend who gave us a bag of Irvin’s Salted Egg Fish Skin crisps that I really loved!
One of the things she brought with her is Korean face masks. She knew I was going gaga over Korean cosmetics for the past months and since she’s been to Korea last year, she thought she’ll bring some of her still-existing stocks!

Initially, we planned to use this face mask while we were in Galway for the long weekend. But then, tiredness caught up with us so we preferred to ditch the beauty regimen and just take things slow. We also thought having face masks on while chatting may seem funny to my son who craves to play with my friend.

So what my friend ended up doing was leave her stash with me. I am not complaining, though! And believe me, I tried to “force” her not to leave it with me but she reassured me she has tons of it still at home since she hoarded a lot from her previous trip to Korea.

For this review, I will talk about The Face Shop Real Nature Mask Cucumber. I haven’t tried this before but very much familiar with the brand. For one, The Face Shop is slightly expensive than the Etude House or TonyMoly’s face masks – so I don’t buy this for my face mask. But I do have a couple of lip gloss tubes from The Face Shop so I knew it was a nice brand.

Similar to other face masks, there were a lot of liquid in it. The mask sheet was literally drenched in the liquid solution so I had to be careful while putting it on so I don’t leave any marks on the floor. The mask sheet was the usual round shape with the proper holes meant for the eyes, nose, and mouth. It was definitely bigger than my face so I had to make a few adjustments to get comfortable with it.

I have been using face masks for as long as I can remember so I didn’t bother reading the instructions anymore. I just placed the mask sheet on my face for 30 minutes and went with my stuff (ie chores) while waiting for the time to pass.

Despite not reading the instructions and obviously leaving it on longer than necessary – it didn’t sting at all. There was no unusual scent from the mask sheet and it felt similar to other mask sheets I’ve used in the past. I didn’t expect the sheet to smell like cucumber, though. I don’t think cucumbers have scent – do they?

After leaving it on my face for 30 minutes, I applied the remaining liquid to my neck area. It took some time for my face to absorb fully and even if it dried, it felt slightly sticky.

Overall, it was a refreshing face mask – a similar experience when using sliced cucumbers in your face!
