Cricket is a game which is divided into 3 major formats. 1st is Test matches, 2nd is ODI matches and 3rd and most new is the T 20 format which is most exciting and energetic.

After the 2007 ICC T 20 world cup India introduced a Domestic T 20 league in which players from around the world play and showcase their talent. In 2008 it was started and I would love to recall it.

So the 1st match of the India Premier league was played on M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 18th April, 2008 and this match is Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Kolkata Knight Riders.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opts to bowl first. And their team and 11 was looking like this in this 1st Match: Rahul Dravid (c), Zaheer Khan, Mark Boucher (wk), Jacques Kallis, Cameron White, Wasim Jaffer, Praveen Kumar, Ashley Noffke, Virat Kohli, Balachandra Akhil, Sunil Joshi

And team for Kolkata Knight Riders was looking like this in this 1st Match: Sourav Ganguly (c), Ricky Ponting, Ajit Agarkar, Brendon McCullum, Murali Kartik, Mohammad Hafeez, David Hussey, Ishant Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ashok Dinda, Laxmi Shukla

KKR batted superbly and with the Top score by B Mcculum of 158 runs in 73 balls with 10 4’s and 13 sixes at the strike rate of 216 runs in 100 balls, they were able to post the total of 222 runs in 20 over’s at the loss of only 3 wickets.

RCB was required to score 223 runs in 20 over’s to win this match.

RCB did not bat well and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never look settled in the game and were finally bowled out for only 82 runs in 15.1 over’s and top scored by P kumar who made 18 runs in 15 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes at the strike rate of 120 runs in 100 balls.

KKR won the match by 140 runs and B Mcculum was the Man of the match for his impressive batting.
