Every child loves to hear stories, be it bedtime stories, fairy tales, short stories from ancient times, Aesop fables or even real life stories from your past.
Stories help children to learn about good morales, what is right and wrong .
Some children love happy ending stories, super hero stories or scary stories.
However, my son loves stories with good morales because he has the habit of asking what the story is trying to point out to children.
Hence, I usually would read up Aesop fable stories from Asia, memorize them before making them into bedtime stories.
I do not read from books during bedtime because I wanted to turn bedtime stories into a real story that my son would believe in.
Sometimes, I would even add in a twist and turn on the story, sounds realistic and alluring for him to listen attentively.
Here is one of his favorite Asian Aesop Fable story that I used to tell him:
A long time ago during the Han Dynasty, there once live a boy by the name Sun Shua.
One day, he found a snake with 2 heads on the grass.
At that time, Sun Shua was playing with his neighbor friends outside his house.
Naturally, he was shocked and trembled when he saw the 2 headed snake that he immediately pick up a rod and killed the snake.
Then, he buried the dead snake corpse far afar in the woods.
Once Sun Shua reached home, he was sobbing uncontrollably.
Mommy was curious why her son was crying and probe him why he had cried.
In the mist of choking his tears, Sun Shao answered;
People used to say that anyone who had found a 2 headed snake will suddenly die without a reason . Just now, I found a 2 headed snake. I was scared that I will die and had to be separated from you!
Where is the 2 headed snake now? ; asked the curious mom.
I was afraid that if someone else might find the 2 headed snake, so I had no choice but to kill it and bury its dead corpse!; answered Sun Shao tearfully.
Mom felt happy for his son thoughtful behavior after hearing his explanations and said;
Do not worry, my precious one! There is also another saying that goes like this: God will cherish those who do good to others. Hence, you will not suddenly die .
As years passed, Sun Shao grew up to be a fine gentleman. He was selected to be the Prime Minister of the Chu country. The citizens of Chu admired, remained faithful and respected towards Sun Shao because he was a great Prime Minister with a kind soul.
Moral of the story:
If your purpose of action is good or kind, it will bring forth good result. A kind attitude of caring for others welfare will be appreciated with gratitude and love.
