[JOLSE] TD Repair Emulsion Serum review

TD Repair Emulsion Serum

I am so excited about this product review! As you probably knew, I am a late bloomer when it comes to skincare (Korean skincare in particular) and so I am just recently hooked hauling these through online shops like Jolse. Well, apart from free shipping and reasonably priced items, I found out they give free products in exchange for an honest review – how cool is that!? So imagine my excitement when I got picked to review the TD Repair Emulsion Serum for free! Good times!

So I received the package in the mail a couple of days ago and was pleased to see it is a full-sized bottle (I was expecting a mini/sample version). Apart from that, Jolse was very generous to include another pack of oil-blotting film (love, love Jolse!).

the back of the box

On with the review. To start, I love the packaging of TD Repair Emulsion Serum – there is something so elegant and classy about it. Probably because the box was made with shiny materials and design is very minimal?

I excitedly opened the box and loved the bottle. It was made from acrylic (I think) and that makes it look so sophisticated – unlike the usual plastic materials I see in other brands. It actually reminded me of the packaging from SK-II and the likes. Here is a photo of it including that obligatory selfie (excuse my face; it is almost time for bed!).

posing with the product is mandatory (sorry, guys!)

After washing my face, I excitedly took the cap off to try it out. It took a few pumps before I got any product out (frustrations of new product AND pump bottles!). I was so careful not to get too impatient as I only needed a pea-sized amount for my face and neck. So after fiddling with it a bit, I got the amount I wanted! As you can see, it is not as runny as emulsion from other brands but not too thick as creams. So that’s probably the reason why it’s called emulsion serum?

this amount for my face and neck

I went on to apply the product on my face and neck. I like that it got easily absorbed (just within 2 minutes) making it a product I can use in the morning even in a hurry. The scent was very mild and did not linger for too long. I think I just caught a whiff of a mild ginger-ish scent but since it was so quick, I was unable to really decide what the scent was! The product does not feel greasy or sticky so it is a product I can definitely use for the hot and humid weather. My face felt soft and silky to the touch after the product was fully absorbed.

I am only using the product for a couple of days (literally) and I don’t see any significant change in my skin (maybe I have to use it for longer?). I have normal skin type and luckily, don’t need any serious skincare issues to address. I like the product in the sense that yes, it moisturized my skin and it remained hydrated the entire day – but I know (and use) a lot of product that does the same for my skin.

So everything felt great, my skin seems to like it (no allergic reactions, no itchiness) so it boils down to the price – which was the last thing I checked. As I said, my skin is quite low maintenance and I have used a number of “cheap”  products that does a good job for me so I was wondering whether TD Repair Emulsion Serum is something I’ll buy in the future and categorized as “budget skincare”. And lo and behold, color me surprised! I checked Jolse.com and was shocked to see it retails at $74.98 (discounted at the moment)! So now it all made sense why the packaging looked so elegant and pretty!

Will I buy it? Maybe I will, but not any time soon. As I’ve said, it did not do anything miraculous to my skin (yet), not to mention that there are lots of cheaper alternatives for me to use. But I’ll definitely remember TD Repair Emulsion Serum as a product that works for me, too. Who knows, I might need to use it – maybe when I reach 40?
