was included in our holiday package that covered Kashmir, Agra and a few othe other places around.
We spent a day in Jabalpur – a city in the District of Jabalpur. Jabalpur Disrtric is a part of Madhya Pradesh State which is in Central India. The main attraction was a ride in the Narmada River that has these soft marble rocks as backdrop. The rocks are pretty high and do looked magnificent. We could spot natural formations of faces of public figures such as that of Mahatma Gandhi.
With its black soil cotton grows successfully and is their main commercial crop.
It was a hot afternoon and it would be apt that I mention my experience while on this boat ride. The boat was filled to capacity and the boatman told us to keep steady but one person got up to get away from the sun and the boat tilted but fortunately it became steady again. It is at this moment that the boatman decided to to give us some information about the Narmada River. The most striking was that there were crocodiles in there.
My entire ride became a nightmare for me until we returned to the shore. A thought struck me. What if the boat really tilted and we all lost our balance. But that did not happen and so I am here to tell you the story.
But the visit to the market where they were selling items made from the marble soft rock made me forget that unpleasant incident. There were countless items I could spot there which included jewellery items and also statues. I picked up a statue – Venus de Milo
which looked very artistic but did not cost much as it was a recreation using a mould. Whoever did that mould must have been a great artist indeed.
