Internship

Finding an internship is hard work.  It is actually, it seems, to be the same as finding a job.  I have been searching for an internship to help complete my doctorate degree, since January of this current year.  No one seems want to help with such a short-term internship.  My internship is only 1oo hours.

The problem I have is that where I live is way out in the sticks and the closest major college is about 100 or 200 miles away and the one that is close to home does not have internships to offer.  I guess my problem is that for such a short internship and with gas prices up and down the commute would be very expensive even for such a short time to complete this part of the doctorate program.

On the personal side I also have to care for my mom who does not want visiting nurses for they are somewhat expensive and just for such a short time she does not want to get use to anyone new.  I am trying to get an internship approved that I can do online so that I can complete my degree and still care for her and a few kids, but that is another story.

I have completed all the coursework just the other day and waiting for the final grade.  According to my progress and I do not mean to brag, but I do have all ‘A’ grades except for one ‘B’ grade.  There is a few forms that I have to fill out for the internship, but I do not think that the college updated it for it has some blanks referring to field experiences that the students have had, but I was told that the program I entered these courses were discontinued.  I filled in the forms to best of my ability, but as I said I cannot find an internship site.  I had one that is a writing site that I am writing a study guide book for practical nursing, but the head of the internship program says the site has to be an accredited educational site.  I have one last chance and I thought I would try to see if the college will let me use the site where I am an online teaching assistant for the internship course.

    • i miss having this option. now most are either not paid or they want you to volunteer in place of it.

    • Congratulations on your excellent grades! I hope you will soon find an internship that works for you and your mom.

    • Your grades will surely help you get what you are looking for online. Keep on trying. You can search with adding the keywords 'accredited educational sites' Good Luck.

    • best of luck.
Honestly, you did well, better than my teenager.
At least you got all A and 1 B
      She had 2 Bs

My daughter had went through her internship last year, the final year of her diploma
Her college provided a few options where she can work for 3 months of internship.

Why didn't your college give you the option?

Anyway, maybe you can get someone's help to care for your mom while you are away.
Otherwise, it would be difficult for you to concentrate at work.

      Cheers!

    • An internship is the best venue for the student to practice what they had learned from school. When I was about to end the year of my College level, we are required to have 10 months internship.I didn't have a difficulty of finding the place to have the internship program. The school was the one who will find the place for the internship.

After having the internship, my batchmates and I are confident enough to apply for a new job after the graduating from a university. I am sure you will find the place for your internship program. After the internship, you would be able to work as desired.
