India won the series against New Zealand played in 1999

New Zealand toured India to play a 5 match One day International series. 5th and final match of the series was scheduled to play on Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, India on 17th Nov, 1999.

Both teams were playing very good cricket at that time, so it will be very interesting to see them battle in a bilateral series. Series stand at 2-2 so winner will take all.

India won the toss and opts to bowl first, so New Zealand will bat 1st and will set target for India to chase. New Zealand batted poorly and kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the game and was only able to make 179 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 9 wickets. Only R twose made contribution of 47 runs in 94 balls with 2 4’s and strike rate of 50 runs in 100 balls and Chris C made 41 runs in 57 balls with 4 4’s and 2 sixes at the strike rate of 72 runs in 100 balls.

India was required to chase 180 runs in 50 over’s to win this match and series.

India started very well and got the target in only 44 over’s with only loss of 3 wickets. S Ganguly made 86 runs in 110 balls with 12 4’s and  1six at the strike rate of 78 runs in 100 balls and R dravid made unbeaten 29 runs in 53 balls with 3 4’s and 2 sixes.

India won the game by 7 wickets and with 36 balls still remaining to play.

S Ganguly was both man of the match and man of the series for great batting.
