Importance of knowing who we are dealing with

There is no human being who has the same characteristics as that of another. It is as unique as the DNA that each one possesses. Having said that human beings could still be classified, depending on their lineage, the country in which they are born, the languages they speak and so on.

Knowing whom we are dealing with is vital to them being handled correctly. And this, one can achieve more by observation and interaction than by being academic in that one can ruthlessly place human beings in categories where they do not belong. If one is not exposed to the right climate one cannot point at inabilities such as, them not being good at music or any other form of art just because they are born to parents who do not have these talents, for example and this would do more harm than good. Each person needs to be studied with details collected on not just the place of birth, and or lineage but the kind of experience and exposure each has to deal with.

Taking an example where one is being tried for a job, giving an IQ test would be the last way to judge one’s suitability. A studied format needs to be put in place pointing to the specific job that a candidate applies for. Its time generalisations take a back seat.

Studying humanities is vital in every walk of life. How else can one understand a human being specially when understanding is vital? A marriage to be successful one needs to make a thorough study as; many a time love at first sight takes precedence over knowing the person thoroughly.

People deal with people in every walk of life and dealing with someone who is a stranger can be quite taxing. It will be a cakewalk if we know the person we are dealing with and there are countless approaches that are available to make a study of those with whom we have to deal with on a day to day basis. There are so many categories of human beings one has to deal with – parents, kids, teachers, peers, students, commuters and spouses, to name a few/

Apart from personal experience a study of humanities based on body language has been considered to be one of the useful methods to study a person.

One cannot rule out totally to give weight to a personality depending on one’s lineage for example but this weight could be just a percent or two compared to the other parameters that decide the personality of a person

There is room for a scientific study that could be used as a general approach to study humanities but there is a long way to achieving this approach and if and when that becomes a reality getting to know someone could be just a mouse click away. Till that happens one would have to depend on other parameters which are realistic than categorically giving the dog a bad name and then hanging it by merely going by the language one knows or who the parents are

    • In dealing with other people, we really need to culture and its practices. Even in business matters, we need to be careful not to offend prospect clients. There are some gestures that considered unacceptable to them. It is matter of having a quick research and things will be fine.

    • @shavkat You are so right. Our gestures are indeed to be studied before we use them as some gestures which we think are polite could be insulting to other countries.
