If we do nothing, we achieve nothing.

It is fact – our ideas are dying. And nine out of ten cases we even not notice how they travel from the list “to do tomorrow” to the list “never do”. You really experienced it. Maybe one day a bright idea suddenly exploded into your head and because you are smart enough, just wrote down it for to do in the next weekend. But just that weekend something unexpected happened: weather deteriorated, the car battery discharged, you over slept the clock alarm… And your bright idea was postponed till the next day.

It means, for the day that will never come. And here’s the story –  at the beginning you had an impregnable idea that would bring you happiness, health, wealth, or whatever you crave for, and today has already passed the half-year how you have not progressed. If reading this you will remember not finished works, here’s what I propose – forget, your old ideas long ago already dead and rotten.

All our thoughts have a shelf life. From about three days to two weeks. And the strangest thing is that most people do not realize this. They plan, think, fail to complete the old works and develop new ones believing that they will find time to do everything they’ve ever thought about.

Such thinking is so popular that it infects even big corporate executives. They hold competitions for employees and brainstorming sessions for the purpose to find new ways to improve business. But here’s the question: what are worth hundreds of brilliant ideas, if not used any of all them?

The biggest problem with the ideas is that they are just thoughts. If not hurry on and update – they die and become forgotten. The reasons why this can happen, there are two:

Thoughts are not saved anywhere else expect your head. Human head has one characteristic – it damn quick forgets abstract ideas. The more abstract your mind – the greater the chance that it will forget quickly. So, if you do not want to lose your ideas – save them somewhere else than in your mind.

Second reason is that we postponing our ideas for later and supposedly better life. You have contrived ingenious way to reach your dream goal and do not want to squander opportunities in vain. But during the planning and delays you forget the most important part – the beginning.

No, I’m not saying that it is better to give up on initial preparations and to dive headlong into the pond depth of half a meter. I only say that only by preparations you can’t meet your target. At best, you just get in the planning-induced paralysis. At worst – the idea will ultimately fail over time or you will miss the chance to use it.

So, start to do. At least one step. As soon as you get the idea into your head use it immediately. What you will do with your new idea depends only on you. You can save it. If you do not have time at this moment, but you know that you will have later. If the moment when idea like a bullet pierces your mind you’re busy – do not stop your work, but save it by writing down or recording.

Or go for it immediately. If you have at least a little bit of time, or you know that soon will have. Because you do not need much. Turn down playing music, film, the Internet and everything that could interfere. And then take a notebook or opened a text file on your computer and start planning.

Because if we do nothing, we achieve nothing. It is simple.
