I love photography

Ever since I took my first photograph, I have grown to love the lenses and the notion of what it is capable of doing. My elder brother is a professional photographer. He started snapping pictures from the word go, that was back then in… ugh! I can’t remember, we were pretty smaller then.

He grew from just an amateur photographer to a professional. I could still remember the first camera he bought. It was one of those small automatic cameras that you would barely see its output image clearly. Back then, he carried that camera like it was a new born baby. He can give you a heavy spanking just for going close to it. Immediately after that came his canon camera that uses a Kodak film strip for printing its images. One thing I loved about that camera is the sound it makes when you rewind it after taking every other single shot. How I looked forward to hearing that sound after every exposure.

Then he moved from that to buy a higher quality Nikon camera that uses an external flash. I can still remember how this helped boost his photography career. The camera had a higher resolution and a more powerful lens. The camera’s power flash also helped to lighten the background of the image that he captured. He practically became popular in our area just because of the beauty that exudes from every print of his pictures. People actually loved him.

He then moved on to get a canon digital camera. Wow! That time, I had never seen any camera like that before. You could immediately see the image you want to take on the display of the camera. Instead of straining your eyes to look into the camera’s lenses and focus on an image while closing one of your eyes, you just look on the camera’s display and get your focus and boom – snap!

Just like I said, we always went out together to take pictures, so I would always look at him doing the stuff. I would most times work for him as his secretary taking down some of the information he would need for proper accounting of his activities. With time, I began to carry the camera. I began to take shots. I began to also carry some of my shots with me to go and develop and print some of the images I snapped. I so loved this. I didn’t know anything about photography but due to the fact that I always went out with him, I became enthusiastic about the whole thing.

Now I would not say I am a professional photography now, but also, I am certainly not an amateur. I know good shots when I see them. I have also been introduced to some of the nitty gritty as it concerns taking some snapshots like how to approach the target image, checking the direction of the sun and how to control the amount of light exposure on the image.

I think I am getting to love these things. Don’t envy me please…
