How to Stop Forgetfulness

Do you notice that your memory is failing you?

Are you forgetting where you had last put your keys or

 money?

So many things to remember, too many task to do each day

and yet out of 10 tasks, you might forget to complete the

remainder 2 tasks.

Is that an early symptom of Alzheimer Disease or

Dementia?

Unlikely.

It is a sign of forgetfulness.

Your brain is catching up on age and it is slow in numbers

and remembering numerous tasks at once.

Usually, people at the age of golden years

 ( 60-80 years old ), the mid 40s or

even teenagers are worried about contracting the Alzheimer

or Dementia disease later age when their memory begin to

 fail them gradually.

If you cannot remember what is the purpose behind the

knot you had tied on your finger?

Try these tips to stop your forgetfulness

1. Memorize-
——————–

Memorizing telephone numbers, passwords, formulas or

PIN numbers are the worst enemy for people with poor

 memory.

Try to remember the first 3 digits.

After you had successfully remembered the first 3 digits,

memorize the next 3 or 4 digits.

For older folks, it is advisable to jot down these messy

numbers in small telephone books but never key into your

handset for PIN and password to your bank account.

2. Test Yourself-
————————

Repeat the numbers by writing on a piece of paper.

Fold down the written portion and then write again.

Keep testing yourself by repeating the numbers until you

 can remember part of it.

Then, take a break, try again at later time, maybe a few

hours later.

Writing down numbers could help you to remember easily

as your eyes are watching the numbers, help you to

remember them vividly, embedded in your visual memory.

3. Say It Loud-
———————–

If you have 5 tasks to do today or you have to remember

the subject notes that you hated most, say them loud to

yourself with the aid of your fingers.

Open up your palm, spread out the 5 fingers.

Say one task or the point of notes and put down the first

 thumb.

Next, say the second task or the point of notes and then

put down the second finger.

Repeat the same procedure until all five fingers have folded

 down.

Repeat again while saying out loud.

Your voice will help your brain to retrieve back the tasks

or the point of notes you had just mentioned.

However, avoid disturbing sound or kids voices.

Distracting sounds will make it harder for you to stay focus

.

4. List them out
————————

This method will definitely work.

Write down your tasks or the subject notes on a piece of A4

 paper in numeric format.

Put it up somewhere you can notice easily and frequently

such as :

a ) The fridge door

b ) On the way out to the main door

c ) White board just above your desk

d ) In your pocket

Remember to cross out the task after you had completed it.

In the same way, give a tick just beside the notes that you

 had successfully remembered.

What methods do you use to help you to remember what

 to do each day?

Do you write them down?

Do you key into your handset?

Do you find it very frustrating when you cannot remember

what else you have not done for the day?

Do share with me your opinion. I would love to hear them.

    • These are useful tips. There are several foods that help retain memory and almonds is one such. We have leaves in our garden known as Brahmi. I make a chutney with it adding other herbs.

    • I am very bad at memorizing phone numbers. Now I have stopped making even efforts to remember them.

    • Another best way to have brain remain active is to apply the theory of Maslow which is Forgetting and Remembering. What to do , while on bed about to sleep, spend 5 minutes remembering your past. That helps sharpen your memory.

    • @peachpurple Great tips! Other things that aid memory are using a mnemonic device when learning new data, and using visuals - especially very absurd ones - to make it easier to learn the new information. It is easier to retrieve a memory of something that is bizarre, than just an ordinary memory. This is why advertisers often create very outlandish scenarios or visuals for their print ads and TV commercials.
