How recipes are created.

There are millions of recipes and all these were created and then perhaps improvised to suit one’s taste. Before making them public they would be subjected to a lot of chops and changes. The Net is a place where one has access to recipes from different countries. Adapting to suit one’s taste is often how new recipes are born and a new name given. Great foodies make great recipes is often said and I can say that about myself. Whenever I come across a recipe that I feel could be added to the list of my favorites and try and them out.

I was presented with such a situation when I was planning on making sandwiches for my birthday tea party, yesterday.

No doubt this was my own creation but I had to add something more  innovative  as I saw the chopped green chilies that I had added were too hot. It was indeed a desperate situation but I solved the problem and they sandwiches turned out great.

The original idea was to have chopped tomatoes, onions, salt and sugar to taste,  chopped coriander leaves and mashed up ripe mango. But I just could not tolerate the hotness of chilies in the mixture which I had planned to fill in my sandwiches. I quickly opened my star fruit jam bottle which I had prepared myself and mixed it in the stuff. Unbelievable but true. The mixture became perfect. And everyone enjoyed the sandwiches without a whimper.

This is how I think  new recipes are created. I decided to give it a name – star fruit sandwiches as that is what saved me. I shall make these sandwiches again as I found the taste to be great. I may even put this recipe up in any  contest whenever  announcements are made for recipe contests.

I am off to create another new recipe but hope not to bungle.
