How My Friend Fights Critcism In Teenage Pregnancy

” She’s a b*tch ” , “She’ a flirt “, and ” What a waste  ” are example of words my friend heard when she got pregnant during her teenage life.

And some words hurt even more. Early on her pregnancy, judgement scared hera lot. What would people say? But as she was getting closer to getting to hold her baby, I began to understand things. What only mattered to her was her family and the truth. The truth that although it may not be ideal, God can still use your story. That although she was not deserving, God can still heal me. She had a lot of chance to talk to fellow young moms who have been judged, gossiped about, humiliated. “Puro pag bboyfriend kasi eh” “Landi eh”. Yes, that’s true. But must should really be judged this way? I mean, it’s not like those statements came from the most perfect people around us. Some of them have sinned in the same way we did, some differently, some worse. We all sin. Some sin publicly, some privately. We all fall down at some point of our lives. But sometimes, the harder we fall, the more beautiful and stronger our spirits become.

But it’s okay. They do not understand us. How it feels to come home to our angels and get smothered by their kisses. How it feels to have someone see you as the most perfect person ever even though you know you’re not. Yes, we are young. But you would not believe how incredibly bigger our hearts become when we turn into parents. The impossible becomes possible. You realize your heart is capable of loving in a whole different way.

She’s not saying we should encourage teenage pregnancy. What she is saying is, we should not be shamed for it. She is sure everyone has had their dark moments. That dark moment that will eventually make you shine brightly. You and me, we have sinned differently. But we both sin because we are both human. Both children of God and both something He wants to restore. Maybe we should turn judgement into motivation. Instead of judging someone, why can’t we help them see how they can use problems as opportunities to grow.

She might not have been so wise my entire life. But having her baby is the best decision she have ever made. God has really changed her. And here she is holding His promise. His promise that He will deliver her. His promise that she will never be alone. His promise that He can turn her heart of stone into a heart of flesh.

    • Young woman are looking for what every woman wants--love and a family. I think they should be concentrating on school and a career before they start having committing relationships and get pregnant. They shouldn't be shamed for decisions they have made. They need to be backed and helped. Giving them a chance is what is needed. It has been done, can't go back, and they don't need to make it any harder than it probably already is. If the young mothers are good moms then that is a good thing.

    • Young woman should first find out whether the guy she loves is sincere towards her or not. If the guy is really sincere, then she can plan wedding in the future which after she finish her study or after obtaining a stable career. But of course it is up to their choice whether to marry early or not and as their parents should support them because even if they got no support from their friends or other people at least they have support from their family.
