How I Run My Family as a Christian Parent

I learnt from the Bible that “ if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel”(1 Timothy 5:8).This word of God made me to be devoted to my family and home. With this word I entered into marriage relationship and I taught my wife the same Biblical principle.
My family understands that “cleanliness is next to Godliness”. I taught them and we believe that God cannot visit us in a dirty environment. Hence, all of us in the family engage in daily sweeping of our rooms and sorroundings.On weekends we weed out grasses, pick and burn unwanted trashes around our house. We discharge our wastes which cannot burn in nearby government approved recycling plant.
I thought my wife and family that the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom. Hence, I instituted a family altar where we pray to God at least two times daily, morning and evening. I conduct and teach my family how to pray. We also engage in Bible studies, Evangelism and Visitations to the sick, the lonely and those in the prisons. We also go out for social outings once a month to see and participate in social developments around our environment especially environmental sanitation
I taught my family that water is the gift of God and should not be wasted. The members of my family are very careful not to allow water from our private water supply bore whole system to waste and run around the rooms and environs of our building. This has helped us reduce the breeding of mosquitoes, a major malaria carrying agent, once it bits someone.
It is my duty to provide money for food, clothing, house rent, and school fees. Regularly, I go with my wife, Essy to make purchases at the community’s market. I accompany her so that I can know the available market prices to help us plan for future expenses. We jointly go to our children’s schools to pay their school fees and provide their needs according to the limits of our earnings. My wife Essy supports with whatever cash she can provide.
On discipline, I make sure there is no violence between me and Essy.Even if we misunderstand ourselves, we do not discuss our affairs in the presence of our children. This has made our children not to fight, rather than that, they report all provocative issues to my wife Essy and when I am around home we jointly discuss and advice our children with love to love themselves.
I advice everyone in my family to be patient when the means of fulfilling a demanding task is not there. We commit all our deficiencies to God in prayers and God has been faithful to His promises. This idea and practice has helped us to have peace in our minds because we know that God will surely provide.
On my family’s medication, I and Essy purchase routine drugs as directed by our family’s doctor. Hence we have routine drugs, some antibiotics to stop and cure infections, antedotes to stop allergies and drugs that destroy malaria poisons. We report other issues to our family doctor.
