HEALTHY DIET: A SOLUTION TO AVOID DISEASES

The word “healthy diet” is not new to us since it is being discussed in many health journals, magazines, and books. But when someone asks you if what is a healthy diet, do you think you can give the best definition of it?

Again, what is HEALTHY DIET? A healthy diet cannot be found in the book recipes or on the menu of your favorite fast food chains and restaurants. It is not all about measuring a portion of foods you eat or counting a number of calories you intake. What you eat and not how much you eat can be the definition of a healthy diet.

Are you that person who thinks that the healthy diets are the trend one? Do you think those slimming products really of help? Well, it can be to others but not all.

If you want to get back into shape, stay healthy and you want to lose weight, all you have to do is to list those available foods in your place that you think is good for your health like fruits and vegetables. Avoid instant foods if possible (but I doubt you can avoid it unless you know how to discipline yourself). Drink a lot of water regularly instead of drinking soda.

WHY IS HEALTHY DIET VERY IMPORTANT?

A healthy diet is very significant because of one simple answer: to have a healthy living. Some questions below will be a motivation for us to go on a healthy diet.

  • Why are many people suffering from cancer and are yearly increasing in rate?
  • Why do we still have millions of cases of heart diseases nowadays?
  • Why are there many people who are diabetic, rheumatic, and are suffering from many sickness and diseases?

Those questions maybe simple, they are answerable by children, but we should not take those questions as simple as it is. Try to look for the answers and reflect it to ourselves. With those questions, we come up with the thinking of HOW CAN WE SOLVE IT. Well, it is simple as HEALTHY DIET among others. Some may say it is hard to change their diets but, again, it is the only solution to eliminate such things as diseases.

    • “You are what you eat.”

You know your diet impacts your health. You’ve probably heard this over and over again. But have you ever wondered how exactly it improves your health? How does what you put into your body prevent certain life-threatening illnesses like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and osteoporosis?

Here are a few explanations from Healthline and SFGate:

Healthy eating prevents obesity – the number one nutritional reason for disease.
Obesity is a major risk factor for many conditions, like type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, stroke, heart disease and more. Eating foods loaded with sugar, fats and calories can add extra weight to your body, weakening your bones and making your organs work harder. This automatically puts you at a higher risk for health problems down the road.

Certain nutrients affect certain parts of the body.
Without enough calcium, your bones can become unhealthy, brittle and weak. This makes you more susceptible to osteoporosis. Therefore, a diet that is high in calcium can help prevent osteoporosis. The same holds true with saturated fat and cardiovascular disease. Too much saturated fat in your diet can lead to high cholesterol and high blood pressure, two major risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Healthy eating improves the mood, which in turn boosts physical activity.
If you’re happy, you’re more likely to be active. Eating the right foods can help you be happier, therefore leading to more bouts of healthy exercise. Since regular physical activity is a necessity for disease prevention, healthy eating therefore helps in the equation.

Healthy diets boost “good” cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein) and decrease unhealthy triglycerides.
This directly impacts risk of heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and high blood pressure by helping your blood flow smoothly. The more healthy foods you eat, the better your “good” cholesterol levels will be, helping to prevent disease.
There’s no denying the health benefits that come from nutritious diets. Incorporating a healthy diet into your lifestyle will automatically reduce your risk for serious, life-threatening diseases, so why not give it a try? • Here are three reasons why following a healthy diet is important:

      to maintain health by preventing loss of muscle strength, bone mass, and vitamin deficiency states;
to prevent diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, obesity, osteoporosis, and certain cancers; and
to help control and/or treat chronic diseases and conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, sleep apnea, and celiac disease.

      Maintaining health

The body requires carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals to maintain healthy organs, bones, muscles, and nerves, and to produce hormones and chemicals that are necessary for the proper function of organs.
