Take a look at every establishment around you. Gadgets are being displayed everywhere. Say for example the CCTV or the Closed-circuit Television. Isn’t it very useful to us?

In almost all school nowadays, it is being guarded with CCTV’s. For what reason? It is for a tighter surveillance of the students’ behavior inside the whole campus. These helps the administrations as it watches over the different sections of the school all at the same time so they need not watch over the students for the whole nine hours and twenty minutes that they stay inside the school. But, how good are the CCTV’s vantage points that keep an open eye on all the students of a school?

Through CCTV, television images will directly transmit from a camera to a nearby television through cable wires.

CCTV’s are commonly used for its many monitoring tasks such as security systems and distribution of television programming within the area or a building.

Computerized monitoring of CCTV is also a great advantage. It is easier to use in monitoring since the system does not observe people directly. Instead, it tracks the behavior of a certain person by its mannerisms, particular type of clothing or baggage and any identifiable objects and features that can be found through the surveillance cameras.

Such example is when a person left valuable things anywhere in the school, through computerized monitoring, they can track and locate where the thing is or they will know who took the valuable material that is missing. The easily way of solving theft cases, isn’t it?

In the United States, it is said that all school uses CCTV to monitor visitors, track an unacceptable behavior of students and maintain a record of evidence when there is a crime happened. However, installations of CCTV’s have limitations, surveillance cameras should not be used in an area where there is a “reasonable expectation of privacy”; gym locker areas, in the bathrooms or comfort rooms, and in private offices unless the owner gives permission to install one. In hallways, front offices (where students, employees, and parents come and go), parking lots, cafeteria, gymnasium, classrooms and supply or storerooms and other public areas are the only places where cameras are acceptable.

Therefore, we can see how CCTV’s are useful most especially around crowded places where people are unaccustomed to be in, in a way, the school can be considered as one. There is no guarantee that al a thousand students in a school will behave well individually or will get along just fine that they create no ruckus.

CCTV’s were being known to be used by the government and military to track or monitor the weapons that are undergoing testing. However, today the general public for various reasons also uses CCTV’s. Unlike broadcast television where the signal is opening transmitted, the CCTV transmit a specific signal to a specific set of TV monitors. This has made it a very valuable tool for surveillance and for security purposes.

CCTV is often used as a deterrent for crime or to provide video evidence in the instance of a crime. Banks were the first to use CCTV for this means, but now many other retailing companies including convenience stores and gas stations are doing the same. These companies often place the CCTV’s on areas where the employee and operators cannot directly view the area. The video feed is also backed up to tape, which can be reviewed later if needed.

CCTV is becoming more and more popular within the general public and is used by many. Many household security systems now have CCTV, which means the cost is also a consideration. No longer is just used by large institutions, but it can now be purchased at local electronic stores for home use.

Even in the highways, CCTV’s are being installed to monitor traffics. Traffic violators are now easily caught.

CCTV’s have been changing yearly or is being updated by some innovators. From those big cameras to small ones that are almost tiny to be noticed. Many advanced features of the latest CCTV’s now include the higher definition (HD) where one can able to detect and follow motion in areas where there should be none.

Alas! Crimes are being lowered through those small gadgets. Crimes are being solved easily. We and our families and friends felt safe when we are out in places where we know we are being secured by those monitors.

However, do not always rely on those technologies. We must know how to take good care of ourselves.
