@ Shavkat I prefer light-hearted movies.

@suny  Indian television series are hopeless. Where have you seen such over-dressed women in heavy sarees and jewellery always busy in conspiring against each other? I prefer watching comedy serials like Friends, Big Bang Theory, Two and a half men etc. Among the current stuff on Indian TV, I only watch Ashoka and 24. 24 is really good.

@shaloo It would be great to have such with special someone. Unfortunately, I don’t have one. Thus I would just watch with my family.

I also love watching movies that are based on a true story, but only if they have a happy ending. I hate watching movies that are based on real events, but the movie ends tragically or disappointing. There is nothing better than a feel good movie that you know really happened and changed the person’s life for the better.

@traceh I also fond of watching inspiring movies. I loved to be inspired and it should be relatable in real life. I can learn something from it and boost my confidence to know personal role on earth.

I am a very big NO for touching stories. Each and every life is a touching story. Better we move friendly with all and know them, The moment we step out the story begins and ends with your lying on the bed. Where is the need for any touching story of somebody? I literally run away from such stories. I like entertainment for 2 or 3 hrs and I can not sacrifice it for reading others stories. Better I remain at home and do some DIY projects.

I don’t like movies which have negative endings or sad endings even. The two to three hours that I am investing in a movie should be fun as well as educational. I always look for movies that have information and entertainment which is “Infotainment.”

I do ocassionally watch some emotional movies and cry my heart out but that happens only when I am alone. Or I watch them when I had a bad day or I miss someone. I just watch some sad movies, cry and then call them and speak to them about the movie and other things. Please don’t think I am weird as it has become a habit for me 🙂

Not sure how you define “touching” but if it means the movie really tugs at your heart strings, it’s a tear jerker and you cry your eyes out, and/or it moves you in such a way that you “feel” what the characters feel? Then yes! I love movies with a touching story.

In fact, that’s the reason my husband and I started watching foreign films. We tired of American films. They didn’t make us feel or even think. But there was a foreign film section in the video rental store and my husband started perusing the shelves. We really liked those movies. They got to us! Even though we had to read the English subtitles, when we were finished viewing the film it left us with “thoughts” and “emotions”. That means it touched us.

We started with European films and then when Indian films started showing up on the shelf, we began checking them out. If the movie is based on a true story? That’s even better! Now there’s the Internet and movie streaming and we can find lots of foreign films. It’s great!  🙂
