Author Posts

Six of my blog posts were published today out of which two earned 0.15 each and the rest 0.10 each. The blog posts which were published yesterday earned like this- two posts 0.15, one 0.14 , two 0.10. All these posts were in the range of 300-350 words. I am a little surprised at the variation in the rates. I thought that the blog posts were paid according to the number of words? Are their other factors involved too like quality, SEO etc.?

Thank you for sharing your experience my dear. I will check once I post or submit the payment it will have in each post.I also thought that each post has its uniform rate.

@shaloowalia  Yes now they are paying more for SEO friendly posts and taking quality into consideration. There is a thread in the About LiteracyBase forums about this now. This is one of the changes they have made so you might want to check it out. It goes into a little bit more detail about it.

@morgoodie  Yeah, I read something about the quality of the posts. It’s good in a way and will encourage the writers to write quality posts.

@swalia I think most writers focus too much on “quality” as in the grammar, spelling and sentence structure.

While all these are important, it does not bring in traffic or income.

The important thing about writing online for income is to get organic traffic.  That means readers who are searching for information from the search engines.

These are the ones most likely to click on the advertisements, and bring in revenue to the site.

@scheng1  I agree! Though grammar and good English is important but equally important is to write about the topics that bring in traffic for the site.

@swalia/

yes I had noticed that these SEO stuff is related to the rates.

I had posted 2 posts yesterday, published today.

1st post related to recipe with 568 words = 22 cents

2nd post related to Home remedies with 586 words = 24 cents

Hence, obviously, home remedies post with the useful keywords had earned extra 2 cents, still within the range of 500-600 words.

The day before, I had a recipe post with 750 words= 22 cents

I guess recipe post doesn’t have much SEo words

So, I will be posting more on those DIY and home remedies in the future

@scheng1 Perfect grammar is certainly not necessary for good SEO, but the text must be easy enough to understand. If the writer has used a machine translator, there can be major issues with terms that are not appropriately translated. The text will almost surely lack the natural flow of words and ideas that Google is looking for. This can also be true of texts written in English by both native speakers and non-native speakers alike.

If errors interfere with comprehension, then they are an issue. If the text doesn’t read smoothly, it’s also an issue. The rest does impact on the overall impression the reader gets, but these days it probably doesn’t affect search engine rankings all that much.

@swalia Although the grammatical correctness of a text is less important online today, it’s not a simple matter of choosing a popular topic to write about for SEO purposes.

Especially if you write shorter texts, you can boost the value of your post by adding an appropriate image that readers will find attractive. The image should be of the right size and orientation so it won’t be awkwardly cropped, or end up getting blurry when it displays on your post. It should also be visually appealing. If the reader has a choice of two posts: one with a blurry head shot of a single actor and another with an appealing collage of several actors’ photos, the reader will likely opt to read the latter. This is something the admin may be taking into consideration when weighting the value of posts for pay purposes.

Another thing to keep in mind is whether your post has headings and subheadings, bullets or numbered lists, in-line images or video, etc. You could easily boost the value of a short, simply written post by adding more whitespace and a few subheadings, and by including just one YouTube video.

It is clear that number of words is not the criteria but quality sure is.

My blogs are mostly around 300 plus words. I tried one with around 600 words and it made no difference in the ratings. Why struggle for more words is what I now feel. Here is that blog. I thought I had done a good job

@bestwriter I think when you rewrite the article into “How to design and build your dream house from scratch”, you will get much more.

You can talk about how you find a reliable and affordable engineer, and how you discuss with the members of your family about their needs, and living habit.

This will make it into a money-pulling article instead of just a personal review.

I have no plans to rewrite. The blog has all what one needs to know. Trouble is no one reads long blogs.

I think @scheng1 gives excellent advice about what makes the posts more valuable for SEO purposes. Those who choose to follow his advice can earn more money for shorter posts. Those who choose to ignore such advice will have to be content with lower payment per post.

@ peachpurple Today I received 0.12 each for two posts, 0.15 each for four and 0.16 for one post. But I am unable to figure out which post earned which amount.

@ bestwriter I personally don’t like to read very long posts. I will skip half of it due to my limited attention span. I prefer well-written, small posts of around 300-400 words.
