Hello,

I have a question regarding posting in LiteracyBase. So, I noticed, there is a field “Topic Tags”, and I kind of wonder what is the correct formatting of tags? Should I write them with commas, or spaces, how many words should be one tag, how many tags should I include? Or is it better to leave that field blank?

I’ll appreciate if someone can clarify that for me. Thanks a lot!

Do you mean in the forum? You can add tags or not, and if you do just separate them with a comma.

I have not tried this yet. Does it get more attention outside of the site or is it only for inside the forums? I forget that they are there when I am posting.

Thanks for your replies. I think they are just keywords for your post, in case someone is searching for something similar. I’ll keep in mind that we can use them, but not sure if I should focus too much on tags for now.

In my experience, many websites have tags, but they format it in a different way.

@ninab You are right that tags are meant for people who are searching for a particular post.

The importance is not only internal, but also external.

A few useful tags are good, but not too excessive.  I remember a time when webmasters misuse the tag function.

They add in 50 or more tags, and their post ranks very highly in search result.

Later Google changes the algo to diminish the importance of tags.

Tag facility in any site platform is used to make the research easy by the keywords and keywords are usually entered in the box or blank provided one by one separated by a comma. Others the tags or automatically separated by a comma.

In reality, most of the users or bloggers here aren’t using the tag feature. They have never known that tags are very important for topic research, for the direct link to the subject or idea provided to make things in order and could readily be found to save effort and time.

@sheng1 Oh, I see. So, if I understood you correctly, those tags are the same thing as the meta keywords for the web pages, right? Yeah, I’ve heard of those changes that they have no such importance as before. I guess I’m just getting used to the interface here and more specifically, the editor.

It’s fun they allow to post HTML as well, so probably one can post unique posts with some tweaking.

Before I do not know how to use tags, I have to be honest, so I am putting phrases from my blog posts, but then I learned in time and I am putting some key words. It is essential from SEO so I am doing this on my blogs. WordPress always reminded me about it, however, I am not putting tags on forum, I think we should put it and try if the site will be searchable. I will going to try.
