Yesterday I got a spam message from someone claiming to be a lawyer. He wrote that he was representing someone who died in a car accident in 2009 and since we share the same surname, he believes that I could be related to the deceased and he wanted to represent me in the inheritance case. He asked me to write back to him on his personal email id.

This was ridiculous and a spammy message.  I reported this to the support and they have removed the person from the site. If anyone else receives some form of spam then please report it to the support asap. We don’t want this site to be full of spammers and so it’s our duty to be proactive and help in keeping this site spam free.

I received it also.  Just ignore it and delete it.  Spammers are going to sneak in occasionally.

@ Lola  Spammers are going to sneak in but it’s our duty to keep the site spam free. I reported it to the support and I am glad that they took prompt action and barred the member from the site. Such spammers are a threat to every writing site. Many writing sites have gone down due to spammers and so we should not take spammers lightly.

Yes, many of us received that spammed message as well, and the support already knew this. It is glad to hear that the member has been removed as well. Yes, I think we should report the spammer immediately and help to keep this site spam free.

I just do not understand how that spammer spotted this site, as it’s still not so popular yet. I would really appreciate if this community always be friendly and supportive.

@Lee Ka  Yeah, it’s a wonder how the spammer came to know of the site. But I am glad that timely action was taken by the support. Spammers were the main reason Bubblews went down. So it’s very important to keep the site spam free. I am happy that the members here are alert to the threat that such spammers may pose to the site.

I also got an exactly the same spam message yesterday, but it doesn’t bother me. I doubt that his/her cousin last name is Blue, unless he is an alien. LOL

I get these kind of a spam messages in my email inbox all the time, and they are not very special to me.
I meant to say, I don’t get disturbed by them. I just ignore them or delete them. I reported the so called member who sent me this but as I can see he sent it to everybody so I am not something special or big exception after all.
I don’t think that those website were a victim of spam, unless you didn’t think a spam traffic bots, because that can cost a website to close either a new signups, install a better protection or lose/shut down a paying scheme.
The spam just looks bad and I agree, if you have too much of it, probably it will irk some members and they will chill out a bit.

I got the message too, and like many of you I hit the report button. It’s great to see the admin took such prompt action in removing the spammer.

It may seem odd that a spammer has found the site, as it is still young. But it’s a sign that the site is gaining in exposure. So despite the inconvenience, it is sort of a sign of something good!

@RapidBlue  The spammer was quite active in the short span he lasted on this site. I can see that he contacted a lot of members with his default mail.

@Kyla Matton Osborne (Ruby3881)  Yes, it’s good to see the prompt action taken by the support. And this site has already started attracting spammers. This means that it is gaining visibility.

This is WP and that script is prone to the spam garbage. You will get thousands of signups per day, post bots publishing stuff all the time…

I think it has more with the script that attracts bots than an actual exposure.

I have postdd asbout it a few days bacvk. And I hope that the site admins will look into this. They need to block thesecpeople by knowing the ip address thast they are uding. Some sites have been “invaded” by such people that when dedicated writers from their country try tobearn online and ask for the same treatment like anyone else, they can no longer join the site.

We just need to be vigilant and report such incidents right after. Make a screenshot of these spam messages and send it to the site admins.

Yes, I received an email exactly like what you’ve described and my blood boiled, LOL.I proceed to answer him that my last name is not even visible, and I don’t know anyone who lives in another country. However, I decided that I won’t be replying to an idiot so I just deleted right away.

That was such a ridiculous email and you can smell “spam” 100 miles away! I can’t believe he is sending the exact email to users on this site like that.
