If I lived in the US, I’d probably stock up on lots of snacks and treats inside our house! I don’t know about you, but I grew up in a home where I was exposed to American treats like Lay’s, Peanut, Reese’s and a lot more! Of course, my diet changed as I got older (ugh) but there are days I wish these tasty treats are very accessible to me! There are days when I suddenly think of a treat I grew up with or saw posted somewhere online only to get heartbroken to know I can only buy it from Amazon!
I have easy access to Amazon (Amazon UK) but the prices to buy a packet of these American treats are often ridiculous! Some wouldn’t even bother sending the goods over in Ireland. And despite having the workaround to deliver it through a Parcel Motel, I also encounter sellers who are not willing to have it delivered to the UK address – especially if the order is fulfilled by Amazon UK itself. Luckily, the presence of American snacks is improving greatly here and I can visit a specialty shop in the city center where they keep a few of these in stock and also reasonably priced!
One of the treats I have been on the lookout for is the cheddar flavored Goldfish crackers! I was meaning to make it myself since I stumbled on a recipe online (and since I have been making our own crackers, too) but just found myself too lazy to make really small (and fish-shaped) cracker pieces! I think it will not much such a huge difference if I cut it using our bigger biscuit cutters here but there is a certain charm if eaten in small bite-sized pieces, right?
The pack is reasonably priced and it was sealed by a combination of paper and foil packaging. It is a good decision to do it that way to keep the content fresh and crunchy! Although a built-in resealable option would’ve made the packaging perfect, in my opinion! Each cracker is crisp and I haven’t seen a broken “goldfish” yet! Every bite is really tasty – I had to stop myself from finishing the entire bag in one sitting! It wasn’t too salty as I expected it since it was labeled as “xtra cheddar” so it was a pleasant surprise for me.
It is a tasty treat and I am happy it is available here for purchase. Probably not the healthiest snack option but if I don’t buy it regularly, it shouldn’t be too bad, right?
Overall, I am really happy to buy it from the shops. It is a bit more expensive in comparison to Tesco’s own brand range of crackers and cheese biscuits but I think these Goldfish crackers already made its own reputation. I haven’t repurchased it since I have tried once – I think they don’t keep too much stock around!
