The message from the Angel Gabriel ”(Luke 1:35 and 37) was devastating to Mary and it read like a court judgement,” And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end”(Luke 1:31-33). The reason why Mary reacted was her condition as a Virgin.”(Luke 1:34) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? .The Angel Gabriel gave a solution and reassured her with these words,” The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,(to enable you carry out this assignment) and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee(the reason of all these) therefore (is that)the holy child which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God, For with God nothing shall be impossible. ”
You see, God who fixed everything in the world including the Virgin Mary made a request. Mary was not willing to accept, but he reassured her and Mary accepted with these words,” Behold (I am) the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her”(Luke 1:38). Without the angel’s communication from heaven, Mary would have been highly devastated. Communication is part of the exhibition of the Humility of God.
The entire word of God, the Bible, is a show of God’s humility to all mankind. Those who accept the word of God and live it accept life. Power to be humble, power to be righteous, power to be holy, power to be patient, power to be faithful and power to be just is released to them. The writer of John’s Gospel avers,” But as many as received him (and His words), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”(John 1:12) God does not keep his creation in suspense. He extends information on His divine purposes to them through angels, men, women, and signs in the environment.
How often do you remain incommunicado with your spouse, child, workmate, collegue, and other relations? There are many institutions in trouble, confusion and devastation as a result of lack of communication. When communications is withdrawn, life starts expiring in a system. The humility of God wants us to communicate to others no matter the situation.
