An informal party be it a birthday or an anniversary celebration is not complete if there are no games. Games bind the guests together giving them the opportunity to mingle and mix. Not all guests project themselves and having party games does just that.
I have always enjoyed organising parties and coming up with new games each time. Here are a few that you might like, to make your informal parties exciting.
I have been a party organiser for different Groups – family, office,kids, friends and neighbours and so I always need to have party games each time something new to break the monotony and suiting each of these groups.
Here’s one that might interest you. Most of the games here suit all groups.
. It is called ‘Blind Date’
Prepare slips and on one slip write half of a proverb and on another slip the other half of the proverb.
The slips are folded only to be opened when the music starts. They have to search for their partner who has the other half of the proverb. Indeed a blind date. There is so much of excitement and noise too. Whoever finds their partner is the winner. And ofcourse they all will dance together atleast once. It is also a test if guests are familiar with the proverbs
Pairing can be done using other ideas too. Such as opposites. Here one needs to be good at antonyms. Just the word good and the opposite of it being bad would be easy but to make the party interesting there would be words that are slightly difficult.
Apart from pairing, forming groups could also be exciting where names of animals would be written on slips and they would have to look for their group by making the sound of the animal in question without mentioning the name of the animal.
Some party games never die such as ‘bombing the station’ ‘musical chairs’
To know the spirit of friendship there is a game where groups are formed in certain numbers. When a number is announced guests rush to form the group. If there are more than the number required they have to eliminate a few. How that s done is indicative of how ruthless or otherwise they are (lol)

Parlor games are also enjoyable during parties.
It takes a lot of preparation but it is worth for the happiness of the children. I can't wait to see my little niece to grow up, old enough to join in parlor games. When I was a child, this is the best venue to see my childhood friends. Now, I can't see them. They are busy with their lives. Moreover, I really have a happy childhood years.
