Finding Colours In Your Name

I don’t think that when we are named, our parents are thinking about colors! We probably were named after some one in our family or some one who was close to the family…some kind of meaning behind the name that we were given. Your name might be something very special to the person that you were named after or for.  I know when I was picking out names for my children I took into consideration that the name that I gave my child would fit them or that hopefully people wouldn’t make fun of them.

Some one challenged us to pick colours that could represent our name to. I think most of us would just consider the primary colours of red, yellow or blue.  We might even extend those colors to add secondary colours such as orange and purple.  We can blend all those colours like a painter with his palette.  Imagine taking your brush and mixing your colours to fit your name!!

Here’s my name in colours:

J could be the colour JADE.  JADE is a special stone and since I was born an Aries, a brown and green jade gemstone would be fitting.  JADE to me represents the color green which to me represents new beginnings.  As in spring, green represents nature and the beginning of flowers and trees blooming.

O would be the colour ORANGE. ORANGE is a fruit. I associate ORANGE with sunshine.  ORANGE I also associate with the Vitamin C which makes us healthy.

D would be for the colour DENIM.  DENIM I associated with DENIM jeans.  DENIM jeans make me feel comfortable and I’m familiar with.  (Blue is one of my favorite colours. I don’t have any favorite colours really, because after doing this challenge I never liked the color green, but I can associate my name with several tones of green.  Besides every colour is special in it’s own light.)

E would be the colour EMERALD.  EMERALD is a stone in which Cleopatra draped herself in.  It would appear that if someone can don their-self in EMERALDS are  comforting like DENIM.

E would also be the colour EGGPLANT.  EGGPLANT is a shade of purple.  In ancient times royalty wore purple robes/gowns.  EGGPLANT would represent  royalty or of spiritual essence.

So, if I were to put all my colors on a palette, I would come to the conclusion that I’m comfortable with my spirituality because I had a new revelation.  Join me and find the colors in your name!!

~Peace~

    • @Jodee I love the reasons for your choices and what the colors mean to you. Great post. I also chose eggplant for my "e" in my name. I did not think about emerald but I do love that rich shade of green.

    • What a lovely exercise. My name in colors is not an idea that came to me. Might get my kids to try this. Will have to think about mine for a while. The “R” in my name would for sure be red. :)

    • That's great to describe one's name of its colors. All in all, total being is so colorful based on experiences in life. I could also say that my life is colorful in experiencing things, either good or bad. The most significant are to live with a purpose and learn something from these experiences.

    • This is an exercise and a half. With colors I can try to get what my name means. A- Amber is close to Orange like you have said I will associate it with oranges rich in vitamin
N- navy blue I associate it with uniformed police in my country for me that's protection.
I- Ivory I think of ivory tasks. Am thinking elephants animals of the jungles.
T- I can't seem to think of a color with the letter T
      A-Amber
H- hot pink the only thing that comes to mind is baby girls.
I can think of other ways.
      A-Amazing
      N-Naughty
      I-Intelligent.
      T-Tenacious.
      A-Amazing.
      H-Humble
I guess those are some really nice characteristics about a name right? Maybe this should be a new thread what do you think.
