Few people want to have a boy rather than a girl

My mom used to say”A son is a son till he marries a wife, but a daughters a daughter for the rest of her life”.
I am also a woman but I am not agree with my mother.
Son also loves his parents. Why people thinks like this.
It is not fair.
In few countries people loves sons more than daughter.
They abort baby girl.
I can not get this logic. What is the reason to do such a shameful act.
I think there is these two reasons
They want boys beacuse they carry on the family name.
And in my view it is the worst reason. Can not girl carry a family name. Why this stupid reason.
And second is,There are not as many fears as a parent for a boy as there is for a girl,my example,My daughter is four years old and 8 years old son.
My husband says he will not let our daughter date till she will be 19 or older like that but our son he will let date whenever he wants.
When i ask him about this double standard view, his only answer is,because girls can get pregnant and boys dont.
I try to say but our son could get a girl pregnant.
He says its different.
i dont understand it or agree with it.But it seems like a reason to have a boy rather than a girl to some people.
People should understand this if we will think that boys are more important than a girl,it is the wrong way to live life.
Today girls are doing great than boys.Even whenever you see a collage or school’s topper list you will find a girl on first position.
In every field girls are doing well than boys.
Today girls are driving taxi also. Why she is doing this just for her family.
If a girl drive taxi for her family.Cant we allowed her to live her own life.Let her live her own life the way she wants to live.

    • Good thing here in the Philippines, most families would like to have a boy and a girl for their children.

Unfortunately, we only have one child, a daughter , now a lady doctor.

In my family we are 5 siblings , all girls. So, I miss having a brother, and now a son.

If only I wasn't operated for Total abdominal hysterectomy , and my reproductive organs were removed, when I was 38, I would have want a son.

But there's no use thinking of that. I just hope when my daughter finally marries her boyfriend (which will be my son-in-law in the future) , I hope they will have a boy and a girl for children and even more children will be very nice. ha ha ha

    • In China, I heard that the traditional local people prefer to have a boy in the family. The reason, a boy can continue the family's name. It seems impossible but that's the reason why doctors or hospital facilities are not allowed to administer diagnostic ultrasound. Due to a high population of the country, the government had implemented one-child policy. It is most likely that the family cannot choose but to accept infants who are girls. Recently, the Chinese government uplift the one-child to two-child policy. The reason is that elders population had increased as compared to the younger ones. It is a good news that the married couples can able to have an option.

Despite the changes of policy, some Chinese people cannot afford to have two children. The cost of living is too high and the local people are worried to cope up in the living standard. Perhaps the new policy can be beneficial for the younger generations nowadays. But for the couples who had their one-child preferred to be in status quo.
