What is your favorite pastime- Movies or Books?

Almost all of us are struggling in various spheres of life everyday- whether in our careers, Business, shops, studies or in our relationships. We succeed, we fail, we learn, we re-try.
At times, we feel like unwinding. We feel like taking our time off.
Often, vacations- even of shorter duration of 3-4 days is a luxury for many of us, so longer durations are out of question.
So, we turn to our favorite pastimes. For some, especially many of the female folks, there is nothing like shopping and gossipping though many are now also into sports like Rock climbing, para-gliding, swimming etc.
Yet for many men folks and for lazy and semi-lazy(I partially follow in that category, especially as per my wife !) people opt for movies and / or books.

Now, sometimes comes a crux question- what to do in our pastimes.
At times, one wants to watch that latest movie with a talented star cast, or one’s favorite Hero, or a stunningly beautiful actress.
Yet the movies’ tickets are so priced that one feels it out of the reach.
So, one feels like reading a book of one’s choice- the book could be an action thriller, or a romantic love story, or some people like non-ficion books on historical, political or social and other themes.
The conundrum in such a case is that the thought of watching that movie is so high that one is unable to reconcile that the movie will have to be skipped.

On the other side of the spectrum can be cases when one has made up his or her mind for a week full of books time, or article (or post) writing(s).
Yet, one has to go out to attend a function, often due to “societal” pressures, or one’s friends make an outing or a movie program and one has to say yes to remain in the “core” group.
In such situations, one can sometimes be physically present at a place, yet mentally one could be absent from the scene and might have thoughts about how the pastime activity could have been and how did it went.

So the choice is tough at times, and sometimes it can be very simple. If someone is too much of a movie fan, or too much of a bookaholic, then the choice is much more simpler and forsaken.

So what is your choice for pastime- movies or books?

    • I am more on watching English TV series on youtube lately. I don't have enough time to read hard books. If ever I have ample time, I usually read blogs in LB and actively participate here. Things are getting busier and busier lately. But I am happy what's going on in my life lately.

    • I would prefer a book anytime over a TV program or movie. I like TV and movies but in small doses and they have to be exceptionally good with a strong plot, great cast and good story.

    • I get time only on Sunday. I will be busy various activities. There is no place for pastime as such. This is because I always want to keep myself fit and energetic both physically and mentally. Sunday is the only time I may feel bored. So for that, I planned a unique work created for myself.

I move out on my bike. If my friend comes in time I will take him along with me. I go different places in the city and sometimes to the outskirts take different pictures and videos and I upload them all on Youtube which pays for such videos. The name of the site is not recollecting now. We can post any material. If anybody clicks on that we get some small amount. Very interesting site. If I move out of the city it will be in the evening I return home. So I have not faced any problem in spending time in a useful manner. I hardly do any reading. But during nights that too once in a blue moon I watch some movies on Youtube. Only for news sake I watch TV.

    • It is an interesting topic how to pass time when you have nothing to do at home a very serious question for all of us. Many people think may ways to pass time reading books or watch plays or movies on internet or YVs. But is a critical question.

I pass my times reading poems and sonnets and odes written by classical writers in the past when I was a child. It is very interesting or I read the Holy Books.

But a new understanding of how the brain processes time could one day allow scientists to tweak an individual's sense of timing.

New research suggests timekeeping in the brain is decentralised, with different neural circuits having their own timing mechanisms for specific activities.

Not only does it raise the possibility of artificially manipulating time perceptions, but the finding could also explain why our sense of time changes in different conditions - such as when we are having fun or are under stress.

When an individual is under stress, for example, it affects that amount of chemicals such as adrenalin in the brain. Scientists know adrenalin affects the rate of activity of neuronal activity.

Everybody can the way how to pass time is personal problem not of other people.
