This was a challenge I had to think hard about!! 😉 We smell so many different smells, that finding “favorite” smells is hard. I don’t like picking any “favorite” of anything anyway, because I might like some thing for one reason and like something else for another reason. So, for me choosing a favorite is hard to do. However, when you look at my list there are some that I like different smells of.
My first and probably my favorite scents since I like to cook is a toss up between FRESHLY BAKED BREAD or BAKING PIES. Those favorite scents are “comfort” sense. When I eat the bread or the pies, I feel comfort and can remember helping my mom and can remember the smells in the kitchen when she would cook/bake.
Another favorite scent is VANILLA. I don’t know what it is about vanilla, whether it’s used in baking/cooking or it’s in bath wash, shampoo or a scented candle, vanilla to me is calming.
Another favorite scent is LILACS. I love in the spring when the lilacs are blooming and the beautiful fragrance of the lilacs. Lilacs is the smell of spring and renewal.
Another favorite scent and may seem strange, but the smell of RAIN, before it actually rains, during a rain shower and after it rains. It’s a refreshing scent. A reminder of purity and cleansing.
Last, but not least, the smell of FRESHLY MOWED GRASS!! I knew this smell too well!! It’s the smell (good smell) after you’ve worked hard mowing your lawn. Not only is it a favorite scent, it’s also a favorite sight to see after you’ve mowed your yard!!
I think with most of these scents they are associated with memories and it just is passed down to me, as I also like to do these things because of my association with the smells. I feel empathy for those who cannot smell certain scents. Some of these scents we might take for granted but they are the best scents!!
~Peace~

It's amazing how many of us have the same favourites! You are not the first to mention vanilla, for example. And I'm sure many would agree that baking bread is a comfort smell.
You mentioned the smell of freshly mowed grass, and one of mine was new mown hay, which is very similar.
great challenge and unique, you love the smell of mowed grass?
Gee, you must have kept moving your garden every month!
Vanilla, is it essence that you mix into cake batter?
the smell isn't nice when I smell from the bottle but once mixed into the cake batter, it gives a superb, delicious take of fragrant butter cake.
Yes, I loved fresh baked bread and pies and cakes, simply fragrant and hungry.
I hate to visit the bakery, I would have to spend money on buying those freshly baked breads and buns!
Nice post and you sure are good at this!
We do love the same smells, pies! But I am more ripe pineapple than vanilla.
I like the smell of lavender, rain, roses, lilacs, as well as fresh baked goods.
I also love the smell of a freshly baked bread. It reminds me of a sunny, bright mornings. And also the aroma of coffee.
I love to bake, so yeah, vanilla is such a sweet, sweet smell. And you are absolutely right, vanilla has that relaxing scent.
I love the smell of baking bread. It reminds me of the holidays because that is when my mom would make it. There is nothing like a slice of freshly baked bread still warm from the oven with some butter on it. I want some now. I love vanilla too!! I think it is a popular scent and can be very versatile. I love the smell of rain too. Especially when it hits the hot pavement on a summer's day. It has a metallic smell to it but it smells clean. Grass I am not a fan of the smell since it gets my allergies going and I start sneezing. Great post @JoDee
Almost everyone in the planet like much smells of baked bread. We can identify what is cooked or baked through smell. Sense of smell is very sensitive that it can lead us to change flavors of the stuff we want to eat.
I am a SCENTimental person. I do love smelling perfumes. I have a distinct nosey smell of things. When I pass by a bakery, or any food outlet wherein a vanilla spills and produces scent across the air, I stop for a moment and have a breath of smell of it. Hmm... hmmm... hmmm... Also, I love the smell of a newly mowed ground or lawn. I don't know what makes or leads me to obsess of smelling them. I feel comfortable, have the feeling of or at ease with those kind of scents.
My favorite scents are roses, ripe bananas, ripe peaches, chocolate, prettymynites, I'm not sure what the proper name is for that flower but I've always heard them called prettymynites, and honeysuckle is my favorite scent of all.
Freshly mowed grass is a fave scent. Gardenia flowers is another. Fresh baked bread and coffee. My husband cooking in the kitchen. Most of the time whatever he's making, it usually smells really good! :)
