The Fattest People in the World

The fattest people in the world live on a set of Pacific islands

Being the fattest comes with drawbacks,  over 40% of the population has type 2 diabetes and life expectancy is falling.

This explosion in diabetes has been caused by a change in diet.   For example,  the top food in Tonga is a cheap, fatty kind of meat called  ‘mutton flaps’ – which is imported from New Zealand.

In the past  these people ate fish, root vegetables and coconuts. The oil used was, obviously, coconut oil.

Beginning about 1950 New Zealand began to send ‘offcuts’ of meat to various Pacific islands.

Among this disgusting mess are mutton flaps.   This is the low-quality end of a sheep’s rib.

On average every 100 grams of this nauseating slop is 40 grams fat and  420 calories.

People in New Zealand and Australia don’t eat this slop.  They don’t feed it to their dogs. They sell it to China, Mexico, African and Pacific countries.

No one forces the people of these islands to eat this as food. They want to.

For example, In 1973,  7% of the population were suffering from diabetes in Tonga. In 2004 the figure was 18%.   In 2015 it was 40%.

Fish and vegetables and fruits were eaten from the first settlement; but now,  instead of being the tropical paradise of natural food, it is the centre of processed rubbish.

One can still get fish, but there aren’t many customers.  Fish are not as cheap, and much of it is immediately exported.

The people don’t really want fish. They prefer the flaps. According to the health ministry it’s not unusual for a Tongan, for example, to eat 1 kilogram of mutton flaps in one sitting.

The Flaps are barbecued, easy and quick and people stuff their faces.

This is not a case of starving people in a non-hospitable environment who must eat what they can grab.  These are people who ignore the fruit and vegetables that grow beside them, shun the fish that are available in the market, and eat the discards of a New Zealand table with gusto.

The epidemic of obesity began with the replacing of a natural foods with highly processed and energy-dense food such as white rice, flour, canned foods, processed meats and soft drinks imported from other countries.
This is true all over the world where poor quality and highly energy-dense food is the cheapest.  As is evident in many places, it is cheaper to buy a bottle of coke than a bottle of water.
The problem in the Pacific islands is that the people evolved to store food in their bodies to enable them to make long trips from island to island.   This would, with a sedentary life, make them susceptible to obesity.
By eating this fatty rubbish they aren’t just obese, they are morbidly obese and diabetes, with all it’s dangers is running rampant.

    • Yes there are countless peoples who are living on earth but the cause of very person to be fatty is separate actually fatness is due to fat gathering around first your waist and slowly and slowly the whole body becomes fatty not due to diabetes but due to lack of essential mineral in the body of which low burning fire melts fat from the whole body.

On the the second cause of fatness is also this that peoples drink too much cold water that freezes everything of human body blood, fat and other chemical compound all these factors promote fatness.

To avoid fatness eat all grains, dry fruits, sea foods and all vegetables its minerals will melt the whole fat from your body through perspiration.

    • Although I didn't mention it here, there is a genetic factor. People who are not used to particular foods will have a reaction. If for thousands of years your ancestors ate fish, now, these 'flaps' are difficult to digest.

    • This is a very interesting topic. This takes place not only in Tonga, but also in regions like the Caribbean. We can see a pattern where the diet then and now varies. As centuries pass, there as been a break down in diet. with the improvement of technology comes more and more processed foods which is one of the main cause of many illnesses. For example, in the Caribbean, where as diets usually include many ground provisions, today, the diet mainly consist of rice and fatty meats; and ground provisions are now processed into all types of chips. Like Konga, the poorer set of persons in the society consume fatty meats filled with hormone boosters, while the higher class consume a healthier diet as they can afford it. In other wards, standard of living is also another factor which affects the the health of a nation.

      • You know what you're saying. We never had diabetes in Ja. We ate 'food', that yam, banana, breadfruit, cassava, and vegetables and very little meat. Now, people stop using coconut oil, buy the nasty cheap vegetable oil, eat all the cheap processed meat and fast food, and diabetes and obesity sky rocket.

        • It is really good to know still there are some places where people are not affected by food stuff. Eating vegetable oil, banana, cassava, are really good items for food. Why people are not preferring Coconut Oil is really a pity. It has got many benefits. It nourishes hair and the skin.

If anybody is having muscle pains in the knee area it gives lot of a permanent cure from the pains.

Add two spoons of Coconut Oil to a hot tea and take it. Within 2-3 hours all muscle pains in the knee area will disappear. But one should take it regularly till the pains vanish completely. This is the benefit of coconut oil.

It is really sad to know that such valuable stuff is not being preferred by the people and they are going for unhealthy processed meat which only increases the fat content in the body.

    • What I understood is that the Government is exporting those which are good for people and importing those which are not beneficial to the health. This is the tragedy prevailing in almost all countries of the world.

Fat is accumulated in the body mainly due to: 1. not following regular diet 2. preferring junk food 3. improper / irregular exercises 4. as per the recent research report Depression.

I want to keep the information on the above separately.

Now the point is why the people are preferring such junk, fast, and stored foods in their diet. Earlier they were eating vegetables, fruits, and other food having the good amount of coconut oil. These are very useful in reducing the fat content i the body. We can not blame the Government time and again . The people must realize what we are eating and how the food habits have been changed and how they are affecting our health.

The parents should not allow such food in their diet. They will be very tasty. One can have them just for a change once in a while. But together with the local diet.

An increase of 15% in the Diabetes rate is not an ordinary thing. People should take it to the notice of the Government and see that such foods are restricted to the maximum.

Coke is another hazardous drink. I totally hate it.
They do not serve any purpose but for cleaning the kitchen Sink.
Whenever I find my Sink sticky I pour a bottle of soft drink. Within minutes the sink becomes fresh and gives a good look.

People are using such drinks and consuming them as a luxury and fashionable drink. This is really pitiable to see these people drinking those harmful drinks.
