Are You Excited About Your First Cash Out?

Month’s end means the end of an earnings period here at LiteracyBase. Because many of us are fairly new to the site, this will be our first cash out period. That always brings a certain degree of excitement – and maybe a bit of apprehension too, especially with a site that is still new and unproven.

Earning Pennies on Social Writing Sites

I’ve been writing for pay online since 2009, and I still get excited about seeing that pay come into my account each month. Now, today’s rates aren’t anywhere near what I used to be paid for my articles at Associated Content. And if I were to compare them to the earnings I’ve made with client work or writing for print publications, they’re hardly a drop in the bucket.

How Social Writing Has Forced Me to Learn More

But still, there’s something very special about earning even a tiny revenue share. And perhaps the earnings on so-called “penny writing” sites are even more of an accomplishment because we have to work so much harder to get them. Certainly, I’ve never had to work so hard at creating graphics, promoting my content, and networking when it comes to magazine submissions or content writing for someone else’s blog.

And because I’ve really had to “bust my hump” to earn on social writing sites, I’ve had to learn a lot more skills. I’ve had to inform myself about SEO and keep up with the trends. I’ve had to teach myself to design graphics – and more than that, to choose the right graphics in the right colours for the right social networks! I’ve had to learn about when and how to share my links, how to use social media management tools, and which tools can be had for free or almost free.

So in a way, some of the best work I do is related to my “penny sites,” the social writing sites that really only pay a little honorarium to say thanks for the contributions. And you can bet I’m excited when I see that a post is getting a lot of traffic, or generating conversation, or getting the attention of strangers on sites like Twitter!

I worked hard to get people interested in my content, to get them to participate in my writing support group or to try their hand at generating content for a writing challenge that I proposed. My hard work may not net me the big bucks on social writing sites. It is still good, honest work. And if I can lead by example, or teach a fellow blogger to improve her writing skills or try her hand at social media promotion, well that’s all the better!

Are you proud of the work you put into your posts here at LiteracyBase, or on other social writing sites? Are you excited about cashing out at the end of the month?

Not already part of the action? Wouldn’t you love to get paid to write?

    • True, I missed the days of writing for Helium and then republished in Associated Content for page views too.
I like the Clout structure in Associated Content.
I think I reach Clout 6 and then they decided not to pay international writers.

      • I got caught up in that whole policy change for international writers too, @scheng1. It was bad enough that I could never earn the upfront pay unless it was for my featured contributor posts, but then to be told I would only get paid four times a year - and then only if I'd accrued $100 in pv bonuses? Things went downhill fast from there :(

    • Yes it is sure that getting cash pleasure is more than any other thing on internet but in earning on internet luck favors surely and man does nothing but real life more do more and luck does nothing thus the result remains zero in online earning.

One of the fundamental keys to successfully managing your finances is successfully managing your personal character. Wealth is not merely a matter of how much money you have, but what kind of person you are. Give a man who loves pleasure one dollar and it will be spent on what a dollar can buy.

Give him one hundred dollars and one hundred dollars will be spent. He says give me a million and I shall be satisfied. So give him a million and he will spend a million dollars before he knows it.

A person who has not acquired wealth in his life will often say, “if only I made this much money, I would be able to save and have no financial worries.” However, as time goes by and his pay increases, he finds that he has no more money than he did before.

All that has happened is that his expenses have increased to match the increase in pay. In the world, we have those who make little and those who make much. No matter how much a person makes, if he loves pleasure, the money will be spent to the full and he will be poor.

    • I have written for other sites and, like you, have gotten paid. As I read your blog, I was encouraged about how working on this site can improve writing. What you shared is so true. For my last blog, I had to do some picture searching, proof-read my work and share via the social media. I agree that there is excitement generated when others read your site. This site is great and I am hopping to see my first pay soon. Thanks for sharing.
