Even siting has health impact

Hello Everyone!

Every activity we undergo has health impact in one way OR other. Just plain siting and doing nothing can also have considerable impact on health matters. Let us explore it off.

No fat burn

Just sitting and doing nothing – this is likely to burn no fat. Also, the flow of blood circulation is quite slow. So, the fatty acids are likely to form a layer in front of our heart and this will definitely block our heart from performing its normal activities. This might lead to heart diseases in the longer run.

It is therefore not recommended to sit in one position for long. Get up and do some exercises for a better body.

Wrong position = Neck damaged

It is corporate culture and most of us have desk bound job. Due to that, we tend to lean forward and sit comfortably. This comfort often comes at a cost. Our neck is damaged. We do feel stiffness in our neck muscle and this seems quite normal process to us but it isn’t.

The rule is to sit straight without putting any strain on any part. Lean neither forward nor backward so that our neck is not damaged.

Obesity borne diseases

There are many diseases related to obesity. Diabetes is one of them. Actually, when we are seated to one location and doing nothing, we are not likely to burn fats / sugar content / other minerals. Thus, the possibility of diabetes and other similar diseases is likely to increase.

It also slows down metabolism and this is the root cause behind many obesity borne diseases.

Brain tempered

All this isn’t enough. Sitting for long at one place is likely to provide less oxygen to our brain (which needs it the most). This leads to malfunctioning of brain. It must be noted that our brain is the master and all organs function only because they are well connected to the brain.

WHAT TO DO = Solution

Here are some simple tips to follow.

Wash your eyes after 2 hours of continuous sitting. Try to close them for 100 seconds at least. While doing so, keep yourself standing. Also note that it is not recommended to sit idly for more than an hour. Instead, try getting up and walking. If you are not in the condition to keep walking OR to keep yourself standing in one position; then at least try to sit properly. Maintain a proper distance between your desktop / laptop and your face. Do not lean in order to do something. If you have to sit, you must sit straight.

    • Sitting for hours affects blood circulation as well. Your idea of washing one's face is good. I do that but not as frequently as you have suggested.

    • @thinker somehow people ought to be moving after every hour, but at times, we forget and end up being stiff and vulnerable to getting ill.
