Evaluate your time spent at the screens, is it not too much?

Once I read a novel about people spending the most of their time between four walls with big screens, and watching them blankly.  It was shown in a way that reading you insensibly get frightened how they can to refuse real life and change it to a moving color pictures. However, when I write it today, it stops looking inconceivable – it is just part of everyday society.

I increasingly catch myself thinking that too much time I dedicate to the screens. Not as I would like. But one answer to an e-mail follow other, then  one more, and I find interesting articles, and then I remember the need to gather information on several important issues, then writing for my blogs and now in addition I have writing here. And so disappears a few hours. And I notice that more and more difficult is to concentrate reading books or any articles, because a lot easier to see the work in film version, and returning home tired or after a long work week, such a choice is fully understandable.

How popular it would not be at all to refuse access to the Internet, television and other networks, shows that the prohibitions hardly solve anything. And all that remains is to be as possible attentive, to keep track of your thoughts and actions: which activities you choose and why and say it is enough. It is important to manage your time, deliberately, resisting the temptation to turn on the autopilot.

I also increasingly ask myself whether what is done makes the most sense, is the most valuable, the most exciting thing, what I could do today. And if the answer is negative, it is clear that I have to rethink my priorities. And to understand what will be more important for me after month, year or decade – a couple of emails and articles, or creative work and live chat.

To relax with the film, broadcast, and even with intellectually stimulating lecture and documentaries is exciting. And the restriction may cause discomfort. But it is important to understand that the discomfort varies, depending on the habits. It may be pleasure just because we are accustomed to something what we like and for the same reason, we do not like something. So, we should give the time for ourselves to test new habits. Because what is unpleasant today, it might not be so after a week. And still it is important to donate a few free hours for your own hobbies, family, friends, walking, anything what you will come up with.

What is most important today? What works is to be done? What activities or people enrich the day? Sometimes it’s easy to forget how many there are alternatives to the current activity. That right there is waiting whole world of possibilities. Sometimes it is easy to forget why we live at all. And how about you? Are you satisfied with your activities and time you dedicate for them?

    • I think of that sometimes too. so I have to distract myself, get away from the computer to do something at the garden, or learn to knit, or do some cleaning in the house, or watch current news,etc, or just play on my tablet, or with my pets.
